The latest transfer rumours from around the world.
The latest transfer rumours from around the world.

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers for the summer. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Jordan Pickford to Everton

According to reports in the Daily Mirror, Everton are in pole position to sign Sunderland shot-stopper Pickford. The 23-year-old has been the standout performer for the Black Cats this season. It is believed the Toffees will have to part with close to £20 million to secure his services with Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal all linked with the Sunderland No.1 too.

Thomas Vermaelen to Watford

When he returns to Barcelona from his loan spell at Roma at the end of the season, Vermaelen is reportedly set to leave straight away, with Watford thought to be his next destination. According to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, the 31-year-old is a defensive target for the Hornets as they look to build on their midtable finish this term. The former Arsenal centre-back needs playing time ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Mohamed Salah to Liverpool

With Liverpool summer transfer target Julian Brandt reluctant to risk guaranteed first team football by moving from Bayer Leverkusen, the Reds have switched their attention to Roma attacker Salah. Goal claim the 24-year-old Egyptian, has really caught Liverpool's attention this season after scoring 13 goals and providing a further 10 assists.

Jason Denayer to Arsenal

Manchester City are prepared to offer Belgian utility man Denayer as part of any deal to land Alexis Sanchez. Pep Guardiola is desperate to land the Chilean and the Sun believe the former Barcelona manager is prepared to offer Denayer, currently on loan at Sunderland having spent last season at Celtic, in a potential deal. It is believed the 21-year-old's versatility would be a welcomed addition to the Arsenal squad.

Adam Smith to Tottenham

The Mirror claim Mauricio Pochettino is a long-term admirer of Bournemouth full-back Smith. With uncertainty surrounding the future of Manchester City transfer target Kyle Walker, the club have made moves to identify potential replacements to rival Kieran Trippier for the starting berth, with their former academy player Smith being one of them. The 26-year-old left White Hart Lane on a permanent basis in 2014 but has been one of the most consistent performers at Dean Court over the last few seasons.
