Transfer Rater: Niklas Sule to Chelsea, Jan Oblak to Arsenal
Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.
Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest rumours ...
Niklas Sule to Chelsea
Chelsea are reportedly looking to bring in German centre-back Niklas Sule. Conte was keen on the Hoffenheim defender in the summer but their bid was unsuccessful. However, ESPN report that Conte is interested in revisiting this option in January and will act quickly to stave off interest from German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
Jan Oblak to Arsenal
Arsenal could be set to break the transfer record for a goalkeeper if they follow up their interest in Atletico Madrid shot stopper Jan Oblak. Goal claim Arsenal have enquired about the Atleti No. 1 on a number of occasions throughout the last year and see the 23-year-old as the long-term successor to Petr Cech. The Slovenian keeper has an £85 million release clause in his contract and Atleti don't sell cheaply.
M'Baye Niang to Arsenal
Calciomercato reported that contract talks between Niang and AC Milan have stalled and the 21-year-old attacker now looks likely to leave the San Siro. Milan are offering Niang a bumper extension but the player is apparently reluctant to sign. Arsene Wenger has been watching the Frenchman since his days at Caen and Arsenal showed an interest in bringing him to the Emirates before he joined Milan.
Luciano Narsingh to Liverpool
According to Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool have turned their attention to PSV attacker Luciano Narsingh as the man to cover for Sadio Mane when the Senegalese man goes to the African Nations Cup in January. The 26-year-old has just the one goal and one assist to his name so far this season but wouldn't cost a fortune given his contract expires at the end of the season.
Lucas Hernandez to Manchester City
Despite the £50m signing of John Stones in the summer Pep Guardiola is still interested in bringing a new centre-back to the club. Vincent Kompany is plagued by injuries and the club loaned out Eliaquim Mangala, meaning City have had to use Aleksandar Kolarov at centre-back. Guardiola is said to be keen on Atletico Madrid centre-back Lucas Hernandez and reports claim a £25m offer could be enough to convince them to sell.
