Man United's Renato Sanches deal in doubt; Everton issue Lukaku warning

Renato Sanches
Renato Sanches won his second cap for Portugal in Tuesday's 2-1 friendly victory over Belgium.

The winter window might have shut, but the rumour mill rolls on. As always, Transfer Talk has its finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest rumours and gossip. See the latest deals here.

TOP STORY: Man Utd face uphill battle to sign Sanches

Benfica are intent on keeping 18-year-old sensation Renato Sanches for one more season, handing Manchester United a blow, according to the Telegraph.

The Red Devils were intent on pursuing a deal for the Portuguese midfielder with a £47 million bid rumoured to be on the table, but the Lisbon side appear unwilling to do business just yet.

Should the box-to-box midfielder impress at Euro 2016 and continue his fine form in the Primeira Liga over the next 12 months, the fee required in 2017 could reach an astronomical figure.

Everton issue Lukaku hands-off warning

Everton have responded to Tuesday's transfer rumours by issuing a hands-off warning to clubs interested in star striker Romelu Lukaku. Roberto Martinez's men insist that the Belgian is not for sale, paving the way for what could be a protracted exit this summer, according to the Mirror.

The Toffees' vehement stance is reminiscent of the John Stones saga last summer and will undoubtedly disappoint Lukaku, who is keen to leave in search of Champions League football next season.

Paris Saint-Germain are the latest club to register an interest, along with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Lukaku insists he does not want to fight with the Merseyside club, though that now appears inevitable with Everton demanding in excess of £50m for the Belgian striker.

ESPN FC's Alexis Nunes and Shaka Hislop sift through the latest transfer rumours, as Lukaku may leave Goodison Park.

Watford plan double swoop on Liverpool duo

Watford are planning a surprise move for Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen, according to the Guardian.

The Hornets will look to prize away the Welsh international almost four years after the Reds coughed up £15 million for the former Swansea star.

Allen only has a year left on his current deal at Anfield and it is thought Jurgen Klopp is willing to cash in on the 26-year-old.

Quique Sanchez Flores will also look to add Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe, who has failed to adjust to Klopp's tactics since the German took over from Brendan Rodgers.

Gareth Southgate says the under-21 international has lost his confidence and a move south could be just the tonic to reignite the winger's career.

Rojo to begin Old Trafford exodus this summer

The Mirror says that Manchester United will begin a clearout this summer -- no matter who is in charge of the club for next season -- by ditching Argentine Marcos Rojo.

The defender, who cost the Red Devils £16 million in 2014, is said to be surplus to requirements, despite Louis van Gaal's future still unclear and no successor unveiled officially.

United want to upgrade their defence and are now thought to be prepared to sell the Albiceleste star as they reshape their squad.

Tap-ins

- With Champions League football all but secured for Tottenham next season, Mauricio Pochettino is looking to raid Real Madrid for Mateo Kovacic, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

The Croatian has struggled for game time since his move from Inter last summer and may look to quickly move on with the London club battling with Sevilla for the 21-year-old playmaker.

- Sunderland are set to cash in on Uruguayan centre-back Sebastian Coates this summer, according to Chronicle Live, with Sporting Lisbon keen to make the 25-year-old's loan move permanent for £4 million.

- West Ham have moved a step closer to capturing Valencia star Toni Martinez after the player revealed to Spanish newspaper Super Deporte that he is now just waiting for his agent to finalise a deal with the Hammers.
