Klopp targeting Mario Gotze, Ben Chilwell with Liverpool transfer kitty
The winter window might have shut, but the rumour mill rolls on. As always, Transfer Talk has its finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest rumours and gossip. See the latest deals here.
Top story: Klopp to receive funds for overhaul
Liverpool have said that Jurgen Klopp will be given substantial funds to overhaul his squad this summer after the club's 2014-15 accounts show that revenue is up by 16.5 percent to £297.9 million.
The Guardian says Bayern Munich's Mario Gotze, Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski and Leicester City's young left-back Ben Chilwell are all targets for Klopp, who has already begun his reshaping of the squad, after recruiting Schalke's central defender Joel Matip and Red Star Belgrade's playmaker Marko Grujic for next season. The German's budget could be increased even more if he can manage to offload Christian Benteke and Mario Balotelli, while Joe Allen and the out-of-contract duo Kolo Toure and Jose Enrique could also exit.
Liverpool's chief executive Ian Ayre said that the financial growth, before a season that will bring record domestic broadcasting revenue and an increased capacity at Anfield, will give the club extra reason to support Klopp as he plans major improvements to his squad.
United to make a move for Mustafi
According to Spanish media outlet Deportivo Valenciano, Manchester United are interested in landing Valencia's German centre-back, Shkodran Mustafi. The 23-year-old has been a constant performer for Los Che over the past two campaigns throughout their highs and lows, and it's those performances that have led to a number of "bigger clubs" circling for his signature this summer.
With Mustafi apparently unhappy with the situation his club find themselves in despite a recent surge in form (four wins in their past five games), a lack of European football next season could be the final straw for the German international. Currently twelfth in La Liga, 21 points off Champions League football and 10 off Europa League qualification, it would take something of a miracle for the club to reach those goals now.
Despite Barcelona and Bayern Munich also expressing an interest in the defender, Manchester United are thought to be at the front of the queue.
Arsenal, Chelsea, City fight over Juve wunderkind
According to reports from Gazzetta Dello Sport, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, along with Liverpool and Manchester United are all monitoring Juventus wunderkind Moises Kean Bioty. The young striker, who has been dubbed the "new Mario Balotelli," has netted 17 times in as many appearances for Juventus' U-17 side this season, and Arsenal scouts watched him bag a brace during a 6-0 victory on Sunday.
Juventus are aware of the interest around the continent in their young talent and are set to move this week to tie him down to his first professional contract in order to keep him in Turin. The teenager was born in Vercelli in 2000 to parents from the Ivory Coast and, as with many of Italy's brightest young talents, is under the wing of super-agent Mino Raiola.
Fiorentina turn the head of Teixeira
Fiorentina might be competing for the last Champions League spot in Serie A, but off the pitch the club is already making moves for next season. The Tuscan club has reached an agreement in principal with promising Liverpool midfielder Joao Carlos Teixeira, according to Sky Italia's transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio. The 22-year-old's contract with the Reds expires in June of 2016, and as things stand, he is not expected to extend his contract with the club.
La Viola have sent representatives to England after the player was noticed by coach Paulo Sousa, who is understood to be a big fan of the Brazilian. After brief talks with his agent, the club spoke to Teixeira directly and are hopeful that they have done enough to persuade the midfielder to join them next season.
