15.55 BST Southampton manager Ronald Koeman says that he expects to bring in two new players before the end of the transfer window.
The Dutch coach has faced a difficult task in restoring the Saints squad following the departures of key individuals -- and despite bringing in seven new players, he admits that the squad is not yet complete.
Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld has been mooted as a possible target, but Koeman refused to comment on individual names and insisted that Jack Cork was content to stay at St Mary's despite reported interest from Crystal Palace.
"I don't go and talk about names," he said, as reported by The Express. "In two positions we are trying to bring in new players and we hope to bring in this week.
"There was a lot of rumours, but Jack [Cork] is doing very well and wants to stay in Southampton," he added.
15.45 BST Medhi Benatia's move from AS Roma to Bayern Munich has again served to highlight how well the Serie A club have performed in the transfer market in recent seasons.
The sales of Benatia, Marquinhos and Erik Lamela have earned Roma over 50 million euros in the past two summer transfer windows, allowing them to invest in the likes of Juan Manuel Iturbe, Davide Astori, Salih Ucan and Kostas Manolas this summer -- all while still making a profit.
The Giallorossi are desperate to end their 13-year wait for a Scudetto this season and Rudi Garcia still hopes to strengthen his squad further, with highly rated Colombia defender Eder Alvarez Balanta touted as his next target. Read the full story here.

Soldado, 29, has been touted as a potential replacement for Mario Balotelli at AC Milan while Townsend has been linked with Pochettino's former club Southampton.
The Argentine coach has today made it clear that neither player will leave White Hart Lane this summer and he admits that he is more focused on bringing in defensive reinforcements following the sale of club captain Michael Dawson to Hull City.

The 23-year-old joins the Bundesliga side from Corinthians in an estimated three million euro deal and has penned a four-year contract.
14.50 BST Torino coach Giampiero Ventura has explained that Alessio Cerci's omission from the club's Europa League clash with RNK Split is a result of the attacker being distracted by media speculation.
The Italy international has been linked with Milan, Inter, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal this summer, with a 20 million euro fee believed to be sufficient to convince the Granata to part with their most prized asset.
Ventura has refused to rule out the departure of Cerci however, and says the end of the transfer window would be a welcome relief for both parties.
"The boy is always in the papers and his head would not be on the game," the Torino head coach told reporters on Wednesday. "His omission is a no-brainer.
"We're waiting for the close of the window and then we'll see."
14.40 BST Former Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has been forced to retire from football after a medical examination discovered that he had a heart problem.
The 37-year-old was hoping to prolong his career by spending the upcoming season at Serie A side Cagliari, but the Spaniard is understood to have been diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy -- a disease of the heart tissue that causes it to thicken and sometimes cause Sudden Cardiac Death in athletes.
Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini told the Italian press: "It was picked up in the first visits to Cagliari and confirmed after further tests in Padua."
Almunia's retirement brings an end to a 20-year career across England and Spain, in which he won the FA Cup with Arsenal and appeared in the 2006 Champions League final.

The 27-year-old right-midfielder scored 12 goals in 37 league appearances for the club last season and reports in Italy claim Lazio are ready to reward his good form by doubling his existing wages.

13.26 BST Palermo striker Abel Hernandez has landed in England to finalise his move to Hull City.
The Uruguay international is expected to join Steve Bruce's side in a club record 12 million euro deal and will undergo a medical at the club before penning a four-year contract.
13.18 BST Highly-rated French playmaker Adrien Rabiot is desperate for a move away from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 19-year-old has been strongly linked with switch to Arsenal, Tottenham and Juventus this summer and with just six days of the transfer window remaining, he has taken matters into his own hands as he looks to force a transfer.
Rabiot has only one year remaining on his existing PSG contract and his decision to fail to report to training has seemingly given the French champions no option but to sell him now rather than lose him on a free next summer.

13.06 BST Swansea manager Garry Monk insists that Bafetimbi Gomis was not signed as a replacement for Wilfried Bony.
The French striker opened his Swans account in the 1-0 Capital One Cup win over Rotherham United on Tuesday and his arrival from Lyon sparked speculation about the possible departure of Bony, who has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham this summer.
Bony scored 25 goals last season during an excellent debut campaign in England and Monk says that he is confident of keeping hold of the Ivory Coast international.
"It's definitely not the case that he's his replacement," Monk said, as reported by Wales Online. "Through the season we'll see different things: they'll play as lone strikers, they'll play as a pair, use them in different ways.
"We haven't had one offer for Bony. It hasn't worried me, the speculation didn't concern me because we had it with others like Ashley Williams over the years and it's the way it is."
12.54 BST According to Bild, FSV Mainz 05 are after Sevilla winger Jairo Samperio, 21, with only minor details left to negotiate.

12.48 BST Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is still hopeful of signing a striker before the end of the transfer window.

Alexandre Lacazette and Loic Remy are both very much still in Newcastle's thinking this week. They will push until Sept 1st for new striker.- Graeme Bailey (@GraemeBailey) August 27, 2014
12.38 BST AS reports that Athletic Bilbao 'holding' midfielder Ander Iturraspe could move to Bayern Munich before the window shuts, due to Javi Martinez's serious injury, although the signing of Mehdi Benatia from Roma this week makes that move look less likely.
The Basque club face Napoli in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off on Wednesday night and they are desperate to keep hold of their midfield general, especially considering the sale of Ander Herrera to Manchester United earlier this summer.
Iturraspe is considered one of three irreplaceable Bilbao players -- along with Aymeric Laporte and Iker Muniain -- and Bilbao fear that his 40 million euro release clause could be activated by the Bundesliga giants.
Should Iturraspe depart San Mames, Bilbao will turn their attentions to Real Madrid's Asier Illarramendi who currently finds his path to the first team blocked by Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Xabi Alonso and Sami Khedira.
12.25 BST AC Milan general manager Adriano Galliani has described Fernando Torres as "a big-name striker" as speculation grows that the Chelsea forward is the signing he has promised the club's fans.
Should a bid for Torres break down, Liverpool's Fabio Borini may instead become a target with Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi understood to be a fan of the former Roma and Sunderland forward. Read the full story here.
12.14 BST Could Arsenal be on the verge of signing one Belgium international to replace another?
With Thomas Vermaelen out the door, it is speculated that Arsenal are eyeing up Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld.
12.05 BST From 100 pounds to 59.7 million pounds: how the British record transfer fee has gone up and up...
12.00 BST Reports in Spain speculate that Barcelona have completed their transfer activity for the summer following the capture of Sao Paolo defender Douglas Pereira.
It was rumoured that the Catalan club would pursue moves for Fiorentina star Juan Cuadrado and Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus in the closing days of the transfer window, but UEFA financial fair play regulations and LFP laws would make such additions hazardous for the club's economic future.
Luis Enrique is said to be happy with his current crop of players as Barcelona look to put last season's disappointment behind them, thought they still retain hope of offloading Cameroon international midfielder Alex Song.

11.50 BST Radamel Falcao has met with his agent, Jorge Mendes, to discuss his future at Monaco after Real Madrid "re-activated" their interest in the Colombia striker, according to reports in France and Spain.
Following Angel Di Maria's move to Manchester United for a British record fee of 59.7 million pounds, the European champions have the necessary funds available to match what Monaco paid for Falcao, and it is speculated that Mendes, Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will all be in Monte Carlo for Thursday's Champions League group stage draw where they could discuss a deal.
11.40 BST Hull City manager Steve Bruce says that he has ended his pursuit of prolific Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes.
The Tigers are looking for a new poacher following the sale of Shane Long to Southampton and reports in Italy have linked the Europa League contenders with Palermo forward Abel Hernandez.
"It's dead and buried," he said. "We got an indication from Blackburn that they were willing to do a deal and that obviously changed in 24 hours. That's their prerogative.
"Last weekend we thought it was close and then all of a sudden he's not for sale, so we'll move on to the next one."
11.30 BST Napoli are on the verge of signing Espanyol midfielder David Lopez.
Rafael Benitez is still in the market for a marquee midfield signing but the 24-year-old will offer the Partenopei some much-needed depth and tenacity.
AS says that a fee of around five million euros has been agreed and that the player could be in the squad to face Genoa in their opening Serie A fixture on Sunday.
11.22 BST Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong believes that he could be the missing piece in the Manchester United jigsaw following their humiliating 4-0 Capital One Cup defeat to lower league MK Dons on Tuesday.

11.16 BST Milan and Chelsea could be doing quite a bit of business in the last few days of the transfer window.
The Rossoneri have reportedly agreed a deal with Jose Mourinho's side for the loan of Dutch midfielder Marco Van Ginkel while they are also believed to be negotiating the transfer of out-of-favour Spanish forward Fernando Torres as a replacement for Mario Balotelli.

11.00 BST Alvaro Arbeloa is rumoured to be targeting a move away from Real Madrid after growing disillusioned with his career at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Reports in Spain claim that the Spanish right-back feels he has lost the confidence of Carlo Ancelotti and the los Blancos' support -- particularly after he was whistled off after being substituted early in the La Liga opener with Cordoba on Monday.
Chelsea and Napoli have been touted as potential destinations for the 31-year-old, where he would reunite with former coaches Jose Mourinho or Rafael Benitez respectively.
10.52 BST Transfer oracle David Ornstein has spoken... and his news is not expected to please Arsenal fans.
If the Gunners' worst fears over Olivier Giroud's injury are realised, can Arsene Wenger really go three months with Yaya Sanogo as the club's only natural striker?
10.42 BST Everton have unveiled new signing Samuel Eto'o to the media.
The former Barcelona, Inter and Chelsea striker will wear the number (erm...) five shirt at Goodison Park after agreeing a two-year contract.
10.34 BST Marc Overmars loved scoring against Manchester United and the Ajax technical director has reiterated that there has been no approach from the Red Devils for Daley Blind.
The 24-year-old was one of the Netherlands' best performers at the World Cup and he has been strongly linked with an 18 million pound reunion with Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
However, Overmars says that the Dutch champions are confident of keeping hold of the versatile left-footer and insist that they will not be forced into a cheap sale.
"We believe that we currently have a strong team and want Daley to stay for another year," he told De Telegraaf. "Only if the absolute price is paid is a transfer negotiable.
"Daley's management know how we feel at the moment. Next year we will have a much more lenient policy, we are willing to talk with Daley and we will settle for a reasonable price.
"There's some rumblings around Daley, some clubs enquired, but there is no concrete offer. And with Manchester United, there is no contact at all."
10.20 BST Young Uruguayan defender Emiliano Velazquez has claimed he is set to join Atletico Madrid in a permanent transfer, and then spend the 2014/15 season on loan at La Liga neighbours Getafe.
Velazquez, 20, was named the Uruguayan Primera Division's best defender as his current club Danubio won the title last season while he was also named in the provisional Uruguay squad for the 2014 World Cup, although he did not make the final 23 man cut.
The Spanish champions are also hopeful of bringing in another attacker during the current window, with ambitious moves for Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus, Bayern Munich's Xherdan Shaqiri and Alessio Cerci of Torino being mentioned in speculation, though they would have to make room on the wage-bill for this to happen.
Players who could leave Atletico because of this issue include versatile Belgium international defender Toby Alderweireld, who has been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham, and winger Cristian 'Cebolla' Rodriguez, who has publicly said he would like to move to get first-team football elsewhere but who has yet to find a suitable club.
10.10 BST Angel Di Maria became the most expensive transfer in British football history when he signed for Manchester United from Real Madrid in a 59.7 million pound deal on Tuesday.
And the Argentina star has sent out a message to the English club's supporters following his move...
However, Di Maria did not have such kind words for his previous employers, claiming that he did not want to leave Real Madrid, but was left no choice by the La Liga club's board. Read the full story here.
10.00 BST Hull City are closing in on the signing of Uruguay international striker Abel Hernandez.
Steve Bruce has been looking for a forward to fill the boots of the recently-departed Shane Long and Gazzetta dello Sport says that the Tigers have shaken off the challenge of Benfica by agreeing a 12 million euro deal for the Palermo hitman.
The 24-year-old is expected to travel to England today to undergo a medical before putting pen to paper on a four-year deal and his arrival is likely to end Hull's interest in Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes.
Newly-promoted Palermo kick off their Serie A campaign against Sampdoria on Sunday and the Sicilian side are hopeful of signing Roma striker Marco Boriello, Brondy forward Simon Makienok or Paraguayan starlet Brian Montenegro as Hernandez's replacement before the end of the transfer window.
09.48 BST Barcelona have agreed to sign right-back Douglas from Brazilian side Sao Paulo, with a deal worth 5.5 million euros to be confirmed subject to a medical.
Blaugrana figures Antoni Rossich and Raul Sanllehi and Andre Cury were in Brazil to do the deal this week, with the uncapped Douglas, 24, now set to provide competition at right-back for fellow- countryman Dani Alves, 31, and home-grown Martin Montoya, 23.
The agreement should take Barca's summer outlay to around 155 million euros, with the Catalan club stocking up on players due to the one year transfer ban imposed on the club by FIFA.
09.38 BST Arsenal fans may want to look away now... Serbian newspaper Telegraf claims that Arsene Wenger has offered former Birmingham striker Nicola Zigic a one-year contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The 33-year-old striker, who stands at 6ft 8in, is currently a free agent and could prove the ideal short-term fix for the Gunners, with Olivier Giroud set for a spell on the sidelines with an ankle problem.
Arsene Wenger is believed to be reluctant to whack out his cheque book for a new striker and Zigic would provide a cheaper alternative to the likes of fellow targets Loic Remy, Danny Welbeck, Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao.
09.25 BST Done Deal After a flurry of activity on Tuesday evening, the transfer market is showing no signs of relent with just six days of the window remaining.
Ligue 1 side Metz kick off the day by announcing the signing of Mali forward Modibo Maiga from West Ham.
The 26-year-old has joined the newly promoted French outfit on a season-long loan, with view to a permanent transfer.
Forward thinking leads Gunners to Welbeck
Oh, Arsenal. Just when their attacking options appeared more diverse than in recent seasons, Olivier Giroud came a cropper and now they look set to provide us with a mouthwatering amount of pre-deadline fodder over the next few days.
The Mirror reports that the strapping Frenchman, who scored a late equaliser at Goodison Park on Saturday before being laid low by an even later injury, will be out of action for at least three months, sparking a Benny Hill-style chase around a continent's worth of available centre-forwards.
First up is Danny Welbeck, whose value may just have plummeted after Manchester United's humbling at MK Dons but is said to be available for 16 million pounds. The Gunners have made an inquiry already but United may not be keen to strengthen a rival; as such, the likes of Alessio Cerci and Loic Remy have come into consideration too. Either way, from seeming likely to give us a serene end to the window, it now appears that Arsène Wenger's men will keep giving once more.
Van Gaal to make shock move for Allen?
An interesting exclusive in Wednesday's Daily Star claims that Manchester United's recruitment drive could take in a surprise move for Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen.
The Red Devils reportedly had spies at the Etihad Stadium to watch the 24-year-old play in his current side's 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Monday night, and there is reason to think that Louis van Gaal would be tempted to dangle an offer in front of Brendan Rodgers, who was sparing in his use of the Welshman last season. Even so, a move between these two rivals would be deeply controversial.
Blind in United's sights after all?
Whom to believe? While Daley Blind's agent has claimed that Man United haven't been in touch about signing his client, the Express has been up to a bit of guesswork -- and in truth that might be kind upon seeing former United goalkeeper and current Ajax management board member Edwin van der Sar arriving at the club's Carrington training ground.
Passing through to catch up with old friends? Not so, believes the newspaper: He may well have been there to thrash out a transfer for the gifted left-footer who would suit all parties.
Allardyce happy for Mo to go?
The Mirror has information about another potential all-Premier League move, this time involving two London clubs expected to struggle this term. It says that Mohamed Diame, who not all that long ago was being linked with Arsenal and other Champions League sides, could move to QPR from West Ham -- Harry Redknapp is a long-standing admirer of the Senegalese midfield powerhouse, while Sam Allardyce wants to move him on in order to free up space for a new signing.
And that's just the start for 'Arry ...
Harry seems as busy as you would hope in the run-up to deadline day, and another report in the Star says he is eager to add Liverpool defender Jack Robinson to his ranks for one million pounds -- along with former Chelsea and Arsenal man Lassana Diarra, who was most recently with Lokomotiv Moscow.
Falcao's future hangs on Mendes
Here's one particularly big story to keep your eye on in Serie A. The Gazzetta dello Sport has the latest on Juventus' chase for Monaco's newly fit hitman Radamel Falcao, saying that the next 48 hours will tell us everything.
A loan move is being proposed but Juve need to wait for Jorge Mendes, Falcao's agent, to do his business with Angel di Maria and Manchester United first. The alternative if this one doesn't come off? Javier Hernandez, another of Manchester United's Class of stadium mk.
