Barca open talks with Liverpool's Luis

Talks between Liverpool and Barcelona regarding the transfer of Luis Suarez are reported to be open

This column is going to get rather busy in the next few weeks as the transfer window is now officially open for business. In our latest round-up there's talk involving Luis Suarez (naturally), Falcao, Jackson Martinez and James (or "Ha-mez" -- whatever) Rodriguez...

22.54 BST: And so, with that, it's time to bring an end to today's blog as we prepare to rustle up the best gossip from Thursday's papers. Join us then as we make vague, unconvincing efforts to talk about topics other than Luis Suarez.

22.38 BST: And a bonus cat among the pigeons for you here.

22.37 BST: Since Luis Suarez seems to be the only major topic of conversation right now, an update from Sky Sports News: Liverpool say the talks were productive and further talks will take place, but nothing has been finalised. Alexis Sanchez was also discussed at the meeting. If that doesn't sate your appetite, our friends at AS.com English have a neat story on the whole thing here.

22.28 BST: The Guardian says Craig Gordon's move to Celtic will go through on Thursday.

22.22 BST: DONE DEAL! Barcelona have announced on their official website that Sergi Gomez has joined Celta Vigo from their B team.

21.47 BST: And yet another Twitter update via ESPN FC's PSG blogger Jonathan Johnson.

21.37 BST: It's the story that keeps on giving, isn't it?

21.12 BST: And the latest on the Suarez saga...

20.52 BST: Although Juventus have registered the signing of Kingsley Coman from Paris Saint-Germain with the Lega Serie A, it seems they still have to sort out compensation for the 18-year-old midfielder.

20.25 BST: QPR midfielder Alejandro Faurlin has signed a contract extension. Story here.

20.03 BST: Victor Valdes is apparently very close to signing for Monaco after arriving for a medical.

19.50 BST: DONE DEAL! Marvin Emnes has sealed a move to Swansea City. Story here.

19.46 BST: We mentioned this nine hours ago, but it's being reported in the Netherlands too, as our Netherlands blogger writes on Twitter.

19.43 BST: Jose Ramon Fernandez, anchor for the ESPN show "Futbol Picante," believes a number of big transfers are on the verge of going through, tweeting: "The post-World Cup transfer market moves begin. We can confirm over these days the movement of Kroos to Madrid, Khedira to Chelsea and Di Maria to PSG."

19.26 BST: ESPN FC correspondent Jonathan Johnson gives us an update on James Rodriguez via Spanish paper ABC.

19.20 BST: DONE DEAL! Torino have signed AC Milan midfielder Antonio Nocerino on loan. Story here.

18.58 BST: Skysports.com journalist Graeme Bailey on Liverpool's plans...

18.53 BST: New Cagliari boss Zdenek Zeman has suggested Davide Astori will be allowed to leave the club.

"He's an important player," Zeman said. "I think he's got some lucrative offers. We would like him to stay here with us, but I don't want to clip the wings of people who have good prospects."

You can find out more about Zeman's plans for his new side by clicking here.

18.32 BST: The BBC is reporting that Samir Nasri is set to commit to a new deal at City.

18.15 BST: DONE DEAL!  Inter Milan announced the signing of goalkeeper Tommaso Berni from Torino.

17.52 BST: Fabio Borini may have his suitors but it looks like he's planning to stay at Liverpool. FULL STORY HERE.

17.30 BST: DONE DEAL! Big one as Juventus announce the signing of hugely talented young PSG player Kingsley Coman. The 18-year-old signs on a free transfer after he decided not to renew his contract with PSG and is tied to the Italian champions until 2019.

17.21 BST: Goal.com's Wayne Veysey with some information on the ongoing Alexis Sanchez saga.

17.15 BST: DONE DEAL! Another done deal as Burnley snap up former Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks on a two-year deal. Read the full story here.

17.15 BST: DONE DEAL! Fulham's rebuilding has begun and have just announced the signing of FC Basel defender Kay Voser.

17.14 BST: Mainz have had an offer rejected for Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan. The Hungarian is keen to rejoin a top-level club after spending three seasons in the Championship and is said to to welcome a move. With just 12 months left on his contract Bolton would do well to cash in now.

17.08 BST: It is the question on everybody's lips but why on earth has Micah Richards not fulfilled even an inch of the huge potential he has? Well, it seems Manchester City can't be bothered to wait and find out and have put the defender up for sale. The BBC is reporting the 26-year-old could be available in a cut-price deal and clubs like Liverpool, Newcastle, Spurs and Arsenal are all keen on him.

17.00 BST: The agent of Ivory Coast full-back Serge Aurier is hopeful his client's World Cup performances have earned him a move from Toulouse this summer. Arsenal appear to be the front runners but with their interest in signing Mathieu Debuchy to replace Bacary Sagna, it could mean Arsene Wenger cools his interest in the Ivorian.

RB. Serge Aurier -- Ivory Coast
Serge Aurier believes he has outgrown Toulouse and is hoping a transfer after the World Cup can be sorted.

Agent Stephane Courbis is tipping the Ivorian to complete a move away from Toulouse this summer amid interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United.

16.52 BST: Erm, QPR have tabled a bid for Nottingham Forest's Jamaal Lascelles. That is all. Seriously, follow the link.

16.48 BST: Reports from Spain suggest Real Madrid's Casemiro has agreed to join Inter Milan on a possible two-year loan deal. Inter had wanted a permanent deal but Los Blancos refuse to sell as they believe in the 23-year-old's potential.

16.41 BST: Looks like Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy his worked his transfer magic again. This time he doesn't want to sell and it looks like Sandro is staying with Napoli put off by his price tag. Instead the Italian club are being reported by Sky Italia as switching their interest to Liverpool's Lucas Leiva, who they should be able to get for a lot less than the £25 million being asked for for Sandro.

16.39 BST: SKY SPORTS CLAIM TALKS BETWEEN BARCELONA AND LIVERPOOL OVER LUIS SUAREZ HAVE NOW BEGUN!!! Wasn't that supposed to have started this morning?

16.33 BST: DONE DEAL! 1860 Munich are pleased to announced the signing of Gary Kagelmacher from Monaco. The defender is believed to have bought out his contract at the Ligue 1 side to sign for the German club.

16.24 BST: DONE DEAL! Crystal Palace are celebrating their first ever summer preparing for a second season in the Premier League and have started by removing the left-back who helped them get there! Dean Moxey has been released on a free transfer and has been snapped up by Bolton Wanderers on a three-year deal.

16.20 BST: Galatasaray are determined to hold on to star midfielder Wesley Sneijder this summer after his impressive performances for Netherlands at the World Cup reportedly attracted the attention of Chelsea, Manchester United, Monaco and Atletico Madrid.

But speaking to Turkish media, Gala President Unal Aysal said: 'We have not received an offer for Sneijder and we have no intention of selling him.'

16.12 BST: A flurry of activity as promising young Spurs goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux announces he is joining Liverpool. Another DONE DEAL!

16.11 BST: Looks like Juan Iturbe has decided where his future lies. Having said that, a quick scroll through Mr Iturbe's favourites on Twitter and it shows a similar tweet involving Milan was also recognised by the striker...

16.10 BST: After his impressive performance for Algeria in the World Cup Islam Slimani is a man clubs want to sign. The latest two to be linked with bids for the striker are Derby County and West Ham. Talksport says he could be acquired should Sporting Lisbon decide he is surplus to requirements.

16.01 BST: Marseille's prolific striker Andre-Pierre Gignac could be on his way to Turkey with Besiktas after the Turkish side failed to agree terms with Fulham over the transfer of Kostas Mitroglou.

15.54 BST: Interestingly Bayern Munich look set to enter the race to sign Arturo Vidal from Juventus. Manchester United appeared favourites for his signature with a rumoured bid of £60 million being prepared but reports from Tuttosport suggest the Bavarian giants are ready to hijack a deal by offering £40 million plus sought-after Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri.

15.50 BST: Mexico striker Javier Hernandez has slammed Manchester United for having a lack of faith in him as Arsenal and Spurs circle the hit-man with bids. Frustrated at his "super-sub" tag at United, Chicharito is looking for a way out of the club and the Daily Express believes North London could be his most likely destination.

Javier Hernandez finds himself frustrated at his lack of playing time at Old Trafford but could be offered an escape route by Spurs or Arsenal.

15.42 BST: West Ham could be close to making their third signing of the summer if they can lure Timothee Kolodziejczak from Nice. After refusing an option to buy Pablo Armero, the Daily Star claims Sam Allardyce has put together a deal for the left-back who could sign for as little as £4 million.

15.36 BST: Espanyol could be powerless to resist goalkeeper Kike Casilla leaving the club for Real Madrid. The goalie has a year left on his contract at the Catalan club but is being tracked by Los Blancos and it is said Espanyol have acknowledged they should have done more to tie him down to a long term deal.

15.30 BST: Ciro Immobile's big-money move to Borussia Dortmund has left Torino with a giant hole to fill in their squad and it seems as though the Turin club has identified Stefano Okaka of Sampdoria as their main target. Despite only signing for Samp in January, the Italian striker could be available for as little as £500,000 and Tuttomercatoweb claims the deal is close to completion.

15.22 BST: Want a full update from the top-brass at Barcelona on what exactly is going on with Luis Suarez, Xavi, Lionel Messi and Alexis Sanchez? Courtesy of Dermot Corrigan, here you go.

15.15 BST: Mark Hughes will be gutted to find out he couldn't attract Rennes winger Jonathan Pitriopa to Stoke City because the player has opted for a move to the United Arab Emirates instead. I wonder why?

The Sentinel says he is about to turn down offers from the Potters and Marseille in order to fulfil a life-long ambition and sign for Al Jazira.

15.07 BST: A relatively damning verdict on the "English player premium" clubs have to pay from Alan Pardew. He wrote in his column for the Independent that he has been offered young and unproven English players for up to £14 million. With the huge money involved in the signings of Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana, Pardew has illustrated the point that shopping abroad is often better value for money.

15.00 BST: As we reported earlier here, Milan remain in the race to sign Juan Iturbe from Hellas Verona.

14.59 BST: Despite his agent's best efforts it looks like Joel Campbell will be returning to Arsenal, according to the BBC's David Ornstein.

14.53 BST: Almost a done deal. Middlesborough forward Marvin Emnes is set to sign for Swansea in a £1 million deal. The South Wales Evening Post claims the deal will be completed today as the Dutch forward did not train with Boro and is heading to Wales to complete the deal.

14.48 BST: Cardiff City signed a gem of a player in Gary Medel 12 months ago but following relegation and an impressive World Cup performance by the Chilean, it looks like the vultures are circling. The Welsh club have already turned down a loan offer from Valencia and are now bracing themselves for a bid from Inter Milan according to the Daily Mail.

14.40 BST: Real Sociedad have announced (in Spanish) they have reached an agreement with Heerenveen for the signing of striker Alfred Finbogarsson. This surely paves the way for Antoine Griezmann to negotiate an exit from the Basque club.

14.35 BST: The people of Orlando are clearly excited by their new star signing.

14.31 BST: Just a few days ago and Michu was a Napoli player. Well, according to reports anyway, but now the Daily Mirror claims the Swansea forward is keen for a return to his homeland with Atletico Madrid interested in his services.

Whoever does end up signing him will have to fork out a hefty fee, said to be in the £20 million region, while manager Garry Monk is confident he can talk the Spaniard into staying in South Wales when they meet for a talk this week.

14.25 BST: DONE DEAL! Genoa have confirmed the signing of Argentine attacker Diego Perotti from Sevilla. He signs a five year deal with the Italian club after finding himself surplus to requirements in Spain, having been loaned to Boca Juniors during the second half of last season.

14.20 BST: The Barcelona nomad who is always just about to hit it big is now 23 years old and needs a real home. Bojan Krkic has forever been touted as the next big thing and has enjoyed successful loan spells at Roma, AC Milan and Ajax in the past but has yet to have a full season of first-team football.

El Mundo Deportivo claims Bojan is now the subject of interest from Malaga, Olympiakos and Torino but that he wants to cut his teeth in the Premier League. This feels like the kind of story that will rumble on and on during this window. Just a hunch.

14.16 BST: DONE DEALS!  Lazio are delighted to announce the signings of Dusan Basta from Udinese and Marco Parolo from Parma. President Claudio Lotito was confident the signings would go through yesterday though the official announcements were delayed until today.

14.11 BST: All the talk is that Manchester City are set to sign Mehdi Benatia from Roma but the Daily Mail is convinced the Premier League champions are still looking to sign Eliaquim Mangala from Porto. The bid will have to be in excess of £30 million but City are confident a deal can be reached.

14.04 BST: Sunderland are looking to have a pretty busy summer as Gus Poyet reshapes the squad into his mould. First up he wants Fabio Borini from Liverpool after having the Italian on loan last season. He also wants to raid Swansea for Ashley Williams in order to bolster his ageing defence while a £3.5 million bid for Jordan Mutch was also lodged with Cardiff City but has been rejected.

Fabio Borini looks set for a season on the bench at Liverpool if he can't secure a move away with Sunderland looking the most likely destination.

13.55 BST: Leeds United look certain to lose Ross McCormack up front but are acting quickly to replace him after lodging a bid for Leonardo Pavoletti, an Italian striker currently plying his trade with Varese in the Italian Serie B. The striker is also interesting Palermo and Hoffenheim but Leeds have raced into pole position with new chairman Massimo Cellino determined to get his man.

13.48 BST: Arsenal have made a £19.4 million bid for Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez according to the Metro. Liverpool are also interested but rumours suggest Sanchez has his heart set on a move to Arsenal and Arsene Wenger is determined to take advantage of that.

13.39 BST: If Liverpool aren't careful they could be accused of having a relatively underwhelming summer of transfers. Though they've had good signings, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert can hardly be classed in the 'marquee' category and with Luis Suarez staring lovingly at the exit door, their squad could look thinner than it did last season.

Hold no fear though as the Daily Express claims the Reds are looking to bring in £7 million left-back Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea. It is thought Brendan Rodgers was keen to bring in the youngster last season but Chelsea were unwilling to sell to a title rival which is apparently no longer the case.

13.35 BST: Manchester United are back. Again. This time they are set to make Borussia Dortmund a take-it-or-leave-it offer for Mats Hummels in the £20 million bracket according to the Metro.

13.30 BST: Spanish legend Iker Casillas has had a couple of years to forget. First he fell out with Jose Mourinho who dropped him from Real Madrid line-up. Then he was overlooked by new boss Carlo Ancelotti and remained on the bench for Los Blancos' league campaign. He did however win the Champions League, despite almost costing his side the trophy, and then his performance for Spain at the World Cup was below par.

But finally some good news for Iker! According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are more likely to sell Diego Lopez to Napoli than rid themselves of their club-captain.

13.22 BST: Who'd have thought Dundee United would have figured so prominently in this blog! Having had their gem Ryan Gauld dragged away from them by Sporting Lisbon, the Tannadice club are now facing an onslaught of offers for left-back Andy Robertson from the Premier League.

The Courier reports West Ham and West Brom are both looking to bring in the youngster but will have to up their £1.5 million bids if they want to land their man.

13.18 BST: From earlier but now you can read the full story on Juventus and Milan's battle for Juan Iturbe here.

13.17 BST: Juventus are at it again. Well, the rumour mill surrounding Juventus is at it again. They've featured prominently on this blog already and if reports from La Stampa are to be believed then they are chasing young Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic as well.

Matija Nastasic has been unable to cement a place in Manchester City's line-up since his 2012 move from Fiorentina.

Nastasic could be available for as little as £12 million should City be able to bring in Mehdi Benatia from Roma.

13.10 BST: And here is one this very blog brought you yesterday, the news that Mehdi Benatia of Roma is set to sign for Manchester City. Read the full story here.

13.09 BST: He is being nicknamed McMessi already as Scotland's Ryan Gauld completed his move to Sporting Lisbon last night. Read the full story here.

13.02 BST: DONE DEAL! Napoli have been busy in the transfer market and have secured the signing of Genk defender Kalidou Koulibaly on a five-year deal.

13.00 BST: Dynamo Kiev star Andriy Yarmolenko has been the subject of a £15 million bid from Roma but the Ukrainian club have turned it down. The winger is highly sought after around Europe with several English clubs, including Stoke City, West Ham and Chelsea, also rumoured to be interested. But it is the Italian club who are stealing a march but must up their offer if they are to land their man.

12.52 BST: Erm, Pablo Armero. The guy who spent the last six months on loan to West Ham United from Napoli. Yes, he errrrrrmm, is touting himself for a move to AC Milan, Juventus or Inter. No, genuinely.

It took less than five minutes for Pablo Armero and Colombia to split open the Greek defence.
He's a good player and Pablo Armero knows it apparently, touting himself for the biggest clubs in Italy.

While in a press conference in Brazil he said: 'I knew that Napoli would never buy me as long as he (Rafa Benitez) was the was the head coach. However I did at least expect a phone call from Napoli to let me know what they were planning. Now I dream of playing for a big Italian club: Milan, Inter and Juve would all have use for a player of my qualities.'

That's a real quote.

12.45 BST: Chilean striker Eduardo Vargas could be on his way out of Napoli despite impressing for his country at the World Cup. Impressive loan spells at Gremio and Valencia have not been enough to convince the Partonepei to stick with their forward and according to Il Corriere Dello Sport, could be on his way to Valencia or Rubin Kazan, whoever can stump up the £11 million Napoli paid in 2011.

12.40 BST: Earlier we said Levante were looking for bigger bids than the £5 million they received from Atletico Madrid and Porto for goalkeeper Keylor Navas. Well our man in Spain Dermot Corrigan has just told us Levante will be demanding at least £10 million for the Costa Rican stopper, who's stock has risen hugely because of his World Cup heroics.

12.33 BST: This is pretty amusing from Spanish correspondant Dermot Corrigan.

12.31 BST: Italian giants Juventus are looking to bring in Hellas Verona midfielder Romulo according to Gazzetto Dello Sport. The sellers are looking for around £20 million but Juve expect to start the bidding at around the £12 million mark,

12.26 BST: It would appear Costa Rica captain and mercurial attacking midfielder Bryan Ruiz has no intention of playing for Fulham in the Championship next season. He had been on loan at PSV at the back end of last season while the Cottagers got relegated and it seems he now fancies a move to La Liga according to De Telegraaf but are not sure where he may end up - only that it won't be Fulham.

12.22 BST: Arsene Wenger and Arsenal fans should be used to frustration in the transfer market and it might just be happening again. The Gunners looked like hot favourites to seal a deal for Newcastle United full back Mathieu Debuchy but French club Marseille have stolen in at the last minute according to The Journal to seal a deal for the in-form French defender. Reports also suggest Debuchy is keen to leave Newcastle and look for pastures new.

12.17 BST: AS are at it again! This time claiming Real Madrid have been making car number plates with 'James' on them. Fuelling the fire that James Rodriguez will be joining from Monaco.

12.14 BST: £40 million for Javier Cuadrado? That is what Gazzetto Dello Sport are reporting the fee Manchester United have offered Fiorentina for the Colombian's services. Seems ludicrous given they're supposedly buying a brand new defence, William Carvalho for near £40 million and apparently offering Juventus' Arturo Vidal silly-money to also join. This one might be slightly out of left field...

12.09 BST: Lots of Manchester United news. As we reported earlier, Sporting have told Manchester United they are in no great rush to sell their star players and that William Carvalho will cost his full release clause fee of £37 million. The Daily Mirror back this up and have said with Sporting's financial difficulties now in the past, this could be a lengthy negotiation for the Red Devils should they want their man badly enough.

12.01 BST: Liverpool and Arsenal target Salomon Kalou is likely to leave Lille this summer after a two year stay at the French club. Director General Frederic Paquet told L'Equipe: 'The goal is to keep almost all of the squad. The goal is to keep almost all of the squad.'

11.55 BST: Frank Lampard has barely cleared out his locker at Chelsea and they're already looking to bring in a replacement. No respect some people... I jest, Blues fans should expect nothing less. Reports suggest Chelsea are looking to hijack Bayer Leverkusen's £10 million move for Hakan Calhanoglu. The 20-year-old had been reported as close to a move to the German outfit from Hamburg but Jose Mourinho wants the Turkish international as a replacement for departing legend Lampard.

11.48 BST: Much like Angel Di Maria, Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar can't seem to keep his name out of the transfer gossip columns and yet never seems to move club. Since signing for Schalke 04 in 2010, Huntelaar has been linked endlessly with moves away and the trend doesn't look like abating any time soon.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar is being tipped as the man Liverpool want to replace Luis Suarez should he get his move to Barcelona.

The Dutch striker is now being tipped for a move to Liverpool or Arsenal as the former look for a replacement for Luis Suarez and the latter just need a new striker.

11.40 BST: Odd one this one given the guy only signed a new deal with Manchester United a few weeks ago but Patrice Evra is supposedly on the verge of signing for Italian champs Juventus. Weighing this one up, it makes sense because Luke Shaw has just joined United but the plan was thought to be that Evra would help the young Englishman settle at Old Trafford.

But Gianluca Di Marzio claims Juve have reached an agreement with Evra over a £3.5 million a year deal and now only need to negotiate the transfer with Man Utd for the move to go through. Who knew!?

11.35 BST: Chelsea centre forward Samuel Eto'o could be joining Galatasaray on a free transfer this summer according to reports on Tuttomercatoweb. The 'old man' had a shocker of a World Cup with Cameroon and after being released by Chelsea, is available for nothing.

11.29 BST: After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Birmingham City manager Lee Clark is looking to bolster the squad to avoid any repetition. However, interest in AEK Athens winger Vangelis Platellas has been cooled according to the Birmingham Mail after talks broke down. In the same breath, £60,000-a-week striker Nikola Zigic is now no longer a Blues player after his huge contract ran out.

11.21 BST: Manchester United fans, make sure you're sat down and there is nothing hot or valuable within knocking-over distance... OK. Well, the Independent seem to think Andres Iniesta is considering following Louis van Gaal to United because he thinks he is a 'special coach.' Do what you want with that...

Andres Iniesta could be about to join Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United. Dreamy, right?.

11.15 BST: Liverpool can't get enough of getting some air-time on this blog!

11.11 BST: Roma are favourites to sign former Fulham winger Urby Emanuelson according to TalkSport. Fulham had hoped to sign the Dutchman but after sacking Martin Jol and getting relegated, their chances were reduced severely. It now looks as though Roma could snap up their man on a free transfer after AC Milan let his contract run down this summer.

11.07 BST: BREAKING! The man everybody is after has just handed in a transfer request. Not Falcao. Not Angel Di Maria. And no not Luis Suarez. Leeds United captain Ross McCormack is determined to force through a move to Fulham after reports emerged yesterday a £10 million offer has been made for the Scotsman.

11.00 BST: Southampton are looking to rebuild their attack, starting with the signing of Feyenoord's Graziano Pelle who has scored 50 goals in two seasons in the Eredivisie. New boss Ronald Koeman is wasting no time rebuilding his squad but will have to meet the Dutch club's £12 million valuation of the frontman to land his man according to Sky Sports.

10.52 BST: This is the transfer that is going to rumble on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on this summer. The latest from The Independent is that Angel Di Maria will move to PSG in a big-money move rather than join Arsenal. Arsene Wenger is set to be frustrated in his attempts to sign the Argentine, who is being tracked by everybody who is anybody in European football.

10.47 BST: Well well well. The rumour mill didn't take long to consume Costa Rica's star striker Joel Campbell did it? The Arsenal man's agent has been spouting off that lots of clubs are interested in his client. With his future at Arsenal undecided due to work-permit issues, it could be that Campbell, who was on loan at Olympiakos last season, could be set to leave for Italian shores.

Joel Campbell's goals vs. Uruguay set the tone for an unforgettable World Cup campaign.
Costa Rican superstar Joel Campbell could cut his losses with Arsenal and get a move elsewhere with Italy the most likely destination.

Campbell's agent Roger Lacey told MilanNews: 'Are Italian teams interested? Yes. There are several clubs who are in the top band that have made enquiries about the boy. We are talking about a great player here, who has captured everyone's attention.'

Now that is a good agent.

10.40 BST: Rather worrying reports coming from Spanish paper AS (in Spanish) that Jose Mourinho recruited Tiago last year to tap-up Atletico Madrid players to join Chelsea. His reward for helping Diego Costa and Filipe Luis become convinced they should join the Blues? A two-year contract he is set to sign in the coming weeks. Very naughty if true.

10.36 BST: More from Liverpool. It appears they want to rename the club Southampton Rejects and change the name of Anfield to St Mary's. Clearly not but after pillaging Saints for striking talisman Rickie Lambert and then grabbing club-captain Adam Lallana, Liverpool look ready to prise away star centre-back Dejan Lovren. The fee will have to be around the £15 million mark if Saints are to sell a third player to the Reds this summer.

10.30 BST: The protagonist of the great Greek tragedy that played out on Sunday night, Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas, is subject to bids from the top clubs around Europe. Spanish paper AS have reported offers from Porto and Atletico Madrid have come in around the £5 million mark but have as yet been rejected. Levante hope that by delaying, Navas will have another stormer against Holland in the World Cup quarter finals and be able to up his price further.

10.23 BST: Formerly extremely highly rated Watford forward Troy Deeney is wanted by Premier League new-boys Burnley according to Sky Sports. Deeney had been tipped for a move to the Premier League after an outstanding season before last but a move never materialised although it looks like Watford may struggle to hold on to their talisman forward for another year.

10.16 BST: Liverpool did a sterling job curbing Luis Suarez's more eccentric/cannibalistic side last season after his lengthy ban for biting. And with news he is about to sign for Barcelona, you'd have thought a middle-of-the-road kinda guy would be high on Brendan Rodgers' wish list.

Doesn't he look calm and serene? Mario Balotelli is just the kind of character Liverpool need should they rid themselves of Luis Suarez.

Well... not exactly. It appears Mario Balotelli is high on the Liverpool wishlist should Suarez leave. This should be fun...

10.10 BST: DONE DEAL! Slightly complicated this one so please just stick with it. Saphir Taider, who had been co-owned by Bologna, has now been bought outright by Inter Milan. He is 100% an Inter player. In the other direction goes Lorenzo Paramatti to sweeten the deal. Now that Algeria's Taider is an Inter player it can speed along the negotiations to bring Rubin Kazan's Yann M'Vila to the San Siro because the Russian club will only do a deal if Taider is involved in it i.e coming to Rubin Kazan. Having previously been co-owned by Bologna obviously complicated any deal.

Get it?

10.01 BST: In 2007 Craig Gordon had the title of the most expensive goalkeeper bought by an English club. He cost Roy Keane's Sunderland £9 million from Hearts but after an injury blighted few years at the Stadium of Light he left in 2012 and has not played a game of football since.

But he is about to be rescued by new Celtic boss Ronny Deila who is set to offer the former Scottish international a route back into the game. He told The Daily Record: 'We are getting closer with Craig Gordon, it is down to the small details. We can make this happen but it's not confirmed yet.'

09.54 BST: Some thought there might be some bad blood after Adam Lallana's move to Liverpool went through yesterday. He said he had been thinking about a move since mid-way through last season and sure enough that didn't go down too well with the Saints faithful. But he has looked to remedy any ill-feeling with an advert to Saints fans in today's Southern Daily Echo.

09.49 BST: There had been several reports Manchester United were close to signing William Carvalho. But apparently Sporting Lisbon director Inacio has other ideas. Read below...

09.45 BST: How many Dutchmen can Louis Van Gaal be linked with signing in one summer? All of them. And we're not joking. The new Manchester United boss has been linked with Daley Blind, Memphis Depay and Joel Veltman. But now it is Stefan De Vrij's turn. The Daily Star claim the Feyenoord defender could follow Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen to Old Trafford in a copycat £11 million deal.

09.36 BST: It really is silly season isn't it? The Daily Star have linked Spurs with a shock move for Manchester City forward Alvaro Negredo. Apparently Mauricio Pocchetino wants to shake up his forward line and is ready to go toe-to-toe with Spanish champions Atletico Madrid to sign the striker. Somehow I can't see this one getting much further off the ground.

Despite a blistering start to the season at Man City, Negredo's struggles since January doomed him in the end.
Alvaro Negredo could be on his way to White Hart Lane if his £20 million valuation can be met.

09.30 BST: It isn't really breaking any more because the club announced it last night but here is our definite 100% acknowledgement that Ajax captain Siem De Jong is now a Newcastle United player.

09.25 BST: AC Milan defender Cristian Zaccardo is being annoyingly mysterious. He has told Tuttomercatoweb he is in talks with a Turkish club but will not name who they are. In the same breath he also says he wants to stay at the San Siro. Can't really tell if that is gossip or not really...

Work it out for yourself: 'I've read in the papers about a possible move to Turkey and I can say there is some truth behind it. I am negotiating with a club, but I'm very happy with Milan.'

09.25 BST: AC Milan and Juventus are battling it out to sign Hellas Verona forward Juan Iturbe who apparently has the ability to play for any club in the world. Manager Andrea Mandorlini seems resigned to losing his man and has said although he will be missed in Verona, the player needs to leave to further his career.

Mandorlini is also excited at the prospect of Juve offering him Fabio Quagliarella in part-exchange and told Gazzetto Dello Sport: 'He could work well in our attack. I like him. Certainly our number one striker is Toni, who got back in business last season and showed that he can lead this team.'

09.21 BST: DONE DEAL! The Bundesliga's surprise package last season Augsburg have signed German U21 international Shawn Parker from league rivals Mainz. The 21-year-old has signed a four-year deal.

09.17 BST: Pierre-Michel Lasogga of Hertha Berlin is set to have his move to Hamburg announced today. This should set in motion the transfer of Julian Scheiber from Borussia Dortmund to join Hertha who need to replace their front man. Expect an update later today!

09.09 BST: Lets start the day with some news from France and Lyon manager Hubert Fournier is delighted captain Maxime Gonalons has extended his stay with the club. Rumours had been abound he was set to jump ship as the French giants look to cut costs amid a financial crisis of sorts but it would appear the captain will be there for at least another year. Italian side Napoli had been interested.

It's happening, it's finally happening

After endless conjecture, we've run out of gags and snide comments so will say simply that there's lots of talk regarding Luis Suarez heading to Barcelona. Shock, right? This time it feels for real, though.

Sources have told ESPN FC that negotiations will begin on Wednesday and that Liverpool want Alexis Sanchez as part of the deal. Barcelona's director of football management Raul Sanllehi will meet Liverpool's chief executive Ian Ayre in London -- and to use football transfer speak, they will bid to "thrash out a deal."

Liverpool's local paper the Echo say something similar. The Daily Telegraph also mentions the desire on Liverpool's part to land Sanchez.

Luis Suarez may be on his way out of Anfield.

The reports claim Liverpool insist Suarez -- currently serving a four month ban for biting someone for the third time in his career -- will not leave for less than 80 million pounds. However, Barcelona believe that adding Alexis could lower the price down.

It promises to be a tense day of talks but Liverpool agreeing to open lines of communication with Barcelona suggests a deal is on the cards. We're on the home straight, folks.

Di Maria OUT, Rodriguez IN

It was only a matter of time until Colombia sensation James Rodriguez blasted his way into the gossip columns and after recently claiming he dreamed of Real Madrid, he could yet have his wish.

AS suggest Rodriguez could join and that would pave the way for Angel Di Maria's exit. The Argentina winger enjoyed a fine season at the Bernabeu but would be deemed surplus to requirements if Madrid managed to land Rodriguez.

AS believe Di Maria wants to leave the Bernabeu and not even an eye-watering 50 million euros has put off the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus.

"I still don't know if I'll stay at Madrid," the man himself said.

And that's not all the gossip from Real...

Earn your money. Mendes, Jorge Mendes, is what is known as a "Super Agent" in the world of football thanks to an enviable client list that includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho and Falcao. He's bound to be busy in the next few weeks as the transfer window heats up -- and Falcao has instructed him to facilitate a move to Carlo Ancelotti's men.

That's what Marca are saying but they also insist Falcao is not on Madrid's wish list for now.

However, the Monaco man is eager for a switch to Spain. Your move, Jorge.

Martinez wants Arsenal switch

From one agent to another now and news that Jackson Martinez is up for moving to Arsenal.

The Porto striker said: "My agent is in charge of my future, for now I'm here and it is only after the World Cup that we will discuss what we have to deal with."

Peppino Trirri represents the Colombian, rated at around 30 million pounds, and Martinez has handed Arsenal a boost by claiming he wants to join them.

Not so Super Mario

One striker unlikely to be moving to north London, however, is Bayern Munich's Mario Mandzukic. The Croatia international is on his way out of the Allianz Arena and Arsene Wenger is said to be keen but apparently, the Bundesliga champions' valuation is putting the Frenchman off. The Evening Standard reckon Bayern want 20 million pounds for Mandzukic but Wenger is not prepared to deal at that amount.

Elsewhere...

The Sunderland Echo says Gus Poyet wants Jordon Mutch from relegated Cardiff.

As we told you here, Thomas Vermaelen is set to join Manchester United and The Daily Mail reckon an 11 million pound move will be sealed after the World Cup.
