Luis Suarez still tops transfer news

How would the signing of Luis Suarez taste to Barcelona supporters?

Somehow, we've made it. It was tough and at times we didn't think we'd pull through but this alien concept -- "World Cup rest day" -- has been and gone. We're back with the action later Saturday and until then, get your teeth stuck into Transfer Talk. Which brings us nicely on to...

Getting this out the way first -- Suarez to Barcelona (again)

Dear readers, we're obliged to bring you the latest goings on in the transfer market but we are aware this one's dragging a bit -- so just go here for the latest on Luis Suarez. They even capitalise WILL -- as in Liverpool WILL sell Suarez -- so they're pretty confident he's off.

The Mail reckon that will be the case as long as Barcelona stump up 80 million pounds for him. That's a gamble, though, considering Suarez has served over 30 matches in suspensions in the past four years -- without even being sent off. Yep, he's missed a collection of games for racially abusing an opponent and biting three others, but Barcelona, as per the report, remain keen on him despite his past.

The Times also have details on Barcelona's "hot pursuit," and if you want to climb over the pay wall, their take on the developing situation is here.

It's not all bad news for Liverpool, though, as Lazar Markovic, the exciting Benfica attacker, has been lined up while Adam Lallana will move to Anfield any day now.

And that's not all -- Belgium star on his way, too

Divock Origi has been causing quite a stir at the World Cup and it appears he's heading to Liverpool, too. That'd be a pretty handy way -- providing others arrive -- of filling the void left by Suarez.

Sunday Times football correspondent Jonathan Northcroft has his ear to the ground when it comes to this sort of thing so when he says he's hearing a 10-million-pound  deal for the Lille man to Liverpool, it's a good bet.

Shaw and Herrera in... Now for Vidal?

It seems Ed Woodward has awoken from his slumber and is now targeting Arturo Vidal at Juventus, with Manchester United's summer spending plans gathering pace.

The club's executive vice chairman has landed two targets this week in Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw but they're not finished yet, no sir.

Following last season's disastrous campaign, United are keen to make waves in the transfer market and signing Vidal from Juve wouldn't certainly do that.

The report suggests Louis van Gaal is a big fan of the imposing Chile international, whom he tried to sign when he managed Bayern Munich, and that tentative enquiries have been made.

It'll cost them a fair bit, though -- the bidding will start at around 30 million pounds -- but after splashing 60 million on Shaw and Herrera it appears United mean business.

Aubameyang in Chelsea's sights

We all thought Diego Costa to Chelsea was as good as done but it seems to have gone cold in recent weeks. Could this explain why Jose Mourinho is now thought to be looking at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?

The Gabon striker had a decent campaign at Borussia Dortmund -- he had a one-in-two record for them in the Bundesliga this season -- but his future is said to be uncertain.

Chelsea's need for a striker is clear for all to see and although Newcastle United are keen as well, the lure of Champions League football could secure a deal in Mourinho's favour if he pushes forward on his interest.

Step this way for more on that.

For Sale: Pristine Spanish midfielder, few miles on the clock, must view

Xavi doesn't know where he's playing and this needs to end, quite frankly. The majestic Barcelona midfielder is leaving the Nou Camp this summer and it looked as though he was heading to a retirement home in Qatar somewhere.

Yet Al Arabi and El Jaisch appear to be going cool on the Spain legend, according to Marca.

An offer from New York City -- where they are literally a one-man team at the moment with David Villa -- is in the pipeline too, apparently.

Surely there's got to be a few more takers?

Bits and bobs

For a handy round up of bits you may have missed -- including Nani saying he could leave Manchester United and Alberto Moreno to Liverpool stalling -- have a look at our transfer page.
