When will it be a Shaw thing?
At what point does a transfer story turn into a saga? In the future, long-running chat about a player moving will have to pass the Luke Shaw test.
The Chelsea-supporting Southampton left-back has long been linked with a move away from the south coast, with Manchester United in pole position to sign him.
But they're stalling (see what we did there?) apparently and the Daily Mirror says it has now become a Blind chase. Daley Blind, since you ask. The versatile Ajax man can play at left-back and in midfield -- and he'll cost a lot less than the 30 million pounds Saints want for Shaw.
Blind's vision picked out Robin van Persie to score that stunning opener for Netherlands against Spain and it makes sense to see United want to pair the two at club level. For his part, Blind has said he is keeping his feet on the ground for now despite the speculation.
Xavi to United didn't last
There were whispers that Barcelona's Xavi could swap the Camp Nou for Old Trafford but, alas, the Premier League will never get to see the Spain maestro grace its grounds.
Former Chelsea player Dan Petrescu has let that cat out of the bag and told Digisport: "Xavi signed a pre-contract with Al Arabi. There were probably other offers from other teams."
Here's one on us
Just a bit of fun, this. Guillermo Ochoa, who was outstanding for Mexico against Brazil, will see his contract at Ajaccio expire in less than a fortnight. Transfer Talk reckons he's going to be featuring on these pages VERY soon. What do you reckon?
Khedira for sale
Real Madrid players have had a tournament to forget so far. Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos were a mess against Netherlands, Cristiano Ronaldo sulked against Germany while Pepe got sent off, and Gareth Bale's watching the whole thing from home.
Sami Khedira has fared a bit better but that hasn't saved him from being pushed towards the exit door at the Bernabeu.
The Daily Express thinks the German international is surplus to requirements -- putting Manchester United and Arsenal on red alert.
The same article repeats the rumour that former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to sign Ramires, hence the desire to flog Khedira.
Draxler snubs Gunners but Mario could move
Another transfer rumour stalwart, Schalke's Julian Draxler, is going nowhere either. Arsenal are admirers but Draxler, one of the rising stars of European football, has told the BBC that he wants to stay in Germany for now.
He's only 20 years old but already capped by Germany and he reportedly has a 38 million pound release clause in his contract.
Mario Balotelli, though, could be on the move to the Emirates. There's talk he's on his way out of AC Milan and his agent has done little to discourage speculation Arsenal could be his next destination.
We're including this because a) Leicester are Premier League new-boys and b) he's got a great name. Danny Drinkwater has signed a new one-year deal with the Foxes.
