Virgil van Dijk, Naby Keita, Daniel Sturridge and Liverpool stars stage own bake-off
Humble pie was on the menu at Melwood this week as Liverpool staged their very own bake-off tournament.
As a forfeit for losing out in a four-team mini competition in training, several Reds players were forced to don aprons and undergo a forfeit challenge in the club canteen.
Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Daniel Sturridge and fitness coach Conall Murtagh were all corralled into the kitchen for a competitive carrot cake duel.

After defeat in Tuesday's four-team tournament in training, a forfeit awaited some members of the first-team squad and a member of the coaching staff (full story ➡️ https://t.co/hxryn4MIBr).

Using ingredients laid out before them, the six -- led by "head chef" Van Dijk -- were tasked with baking cakes that would then be served to the rest of the Liverpool squad and staff.
As Jurgen Klopp filmed the whole thing on his phone, oranges were zested, eggs were de-shelled, carrots were grated, dough was mixed and 40-45 minutes later, the baked treats were ready for sampling.
Seeing as an outbreak of food-poisoning didn't subsequently sweep through the club, we'd argue the whole foray into cooking has proved to be something of a success.
