Manchester United's new kit revealed as club take inspiration from Newton Heath

Manchester United have launched their new home kit for the 2018-19 season, which the club are using to mark their 140th anniversary.

The red shirt is a tribute to the local railway workers who founded United as Newton Heath Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Cricket and Football Club back in 1878.

As such the Adidas jersey features a distinctive black graphic across the lower half that is supposed to symbolise train tracks running away to the horizon.

A nod to the dark shorts originally worn by Newton Heath in 1878, the new shirt will be paired with black shorts and black socks -- a configuration never used by United before as a primary kit colourway.

What's the verdict, Toe Poke fans? Do you like what you see?
