France star Ousmane Dembele plays Football Manager as Winchester FC

As unlikely as it may sound, while preparing for his World Cup semifinal with France, Ousmane Dembele has taken over as manager of Winchester FC.

Of course, this is Football Manager we're talking about here, with Dembele using his downtime in Russia to create a fictional team in the lower recesses of the English league system with the intent of guiding them to the very top.

'I will create a club in Winchester, Winchester FC. I will bring us to the Premier League," Dembele said while announcing his ambitious project last week. 'This is my new project, there's going to be a South American atmosphere in the stadium.'

However, accusations of financial irregularities have already besmirched the start of Dembele's tenure as Winchester manager, with Antoine Griezmann levelling some fairly serious claims during a flight to Saint Petersburg.

"He does things, he gives himself money, he had £40 million in the third division," Griezmann revealed.

Regardless, Dembele's new role has seen a fresh influx of interested in Winchester -- the real Winchester -- with somebody even editing the French language version of the Hampshire city's Wikipedia entry to include a reference to Dembele being a founder member of the local football club.

That said, Winchester already have a local football club -- Winchester City, of the Southern League Division One West -- who have been shocked to suddenly find themselves receiving requests for merchandise from football fans around the world.

And all because Dembele, the £95m prodigy, got bored on a plane and decided to play a video game.

Incredible stuff!
