England players take to social media to react to making World Cup squad

Take a look at England's squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Gareth Southgate told ESPN that telling players they're not selected for the World Cup is one of the most difficult things he has had to do.

With England's World Cup squad now official, several Three Lions players have reacted to finding themselves included in Gareth Southgate's Russia-bound envoy.

England made the announcement using a rather nifty little video, which saw fans from around the country revealing the selection one by one.

As for the players themselves, Marcus Rashford kicked off the reactions in heartwarming fashion by sending a lovely little message to his mum.

Next up was Ashley Young, who shared a throwback image to prove that his dream to play for England at a World Cup goes back a long time.

Dele Alli followed suit by sharing a photo of himself during his early England days.

Meanwhile, Kyle Walker was left to reveal that he came close to blowing his chances after missing a very important phone call.

Come on Kyle, pay attention -- on today of all days!

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.
