England players try their hand at 'football' during pre-Italy training

Dele Alli and his England teammates tried their hand at american football during training.
Dele Alli was one of the England players who seemed to relish the chance to try a different brand of football.

With a tough tie against Italy on the horizon, England seemed remarkably calm during their Monday morning training session at Tottenham's Enfield Training Centre.

Indeed, several of the drills being undertaken during the open session were fairly informal, with a lively game of Nerf football even breaking out at one point.

You may wonder what a game of Nerf football has to do with the venerated game of association football, but it certainly helps hone players' movement and coordination skills if nothing else. Although, judging from the video, it doesn't look as if any of the Three Lions will be signing contracts to play the other brand of football any time soon.

Oh, and it also provided the likes of Dele Alli and Sterling the opportunity to pig-pile onto their teammates.

Win-win!

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.
