Jason Derulo records 2018 World Cup song

It's the news we've all been waiting for: Jason Derulo has been entrusted with recording the official song for the FIFA 2018 World Cup.

Following in the footsteps of Pitbull and Shakira before him, Derulo was selected to sing "Colors," the sporting anthem that will soundtrack the upcoming tournament in Russia.

From the snippet audible in the video, "Colors" is hardly in the same league as 2010's seminal anthem "Waka Waka" -- though, in fairness, the same could be said for most pop music released before or since.

The official 2018 song is scheduled to be released on March 16, with Derulo then performing the song at the World Cup opening ceremony in Moscow.

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.
