Independiente enlist local wizard to help win Recopa Sudamericana
Having drawn in the first leg last week, Independiente have enlisted the help of a local wizard to ensure they beat Gremio in the upcoming second leg of their Recopa Sudamericana duel.
Independiente made the long journey across the border and into Brazil earlier this week, arriving in Porto Alegre late on Tuesday evening.
Getting off the coach, fans noticed the familiar figure of Manuel, a die-hard Independiente fan who also operates as a brujo -- a warlock/shaman type figure in his local neighbourhood.
Manuel has proved to be a lucky charm for Independiente before having previously been present in coach Ariel Holan's dugout during last season's Copa Sudamericana final victory over Flamengo.
Indeed, Manuel was also drafted in by the Argentinian Football Assocation (AFA) to assist Lionel Messi and the rest of the Albiceleste secure qualification for the 2018 World Cup in their final game against Ecuador.
Given his impressive sorcery record, it would appear there's not much chance of Gremio emerging as winners on Thursday night.
