Cristiano Ronaldo beats rival Lionel Messi in new FIFA ratings

Lionel Messi has lost out to Cristiano Ronaldo in the new FIFA 18 rankings.

It's that time of year again, when the football gaming world goes into meltdown over the grand release of the new FIFA ratings.

EA Sports have release their official player ratings for FIFA 18, the latest instalment of their all-pervading franchise.

It comes as little surprise to see the two twin behemoths, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, at the very top of the list, though it's the Real Madrid man who tops the whole thing outright with a whopping overall ranking of 94.

In comparison, Messi is in second place with a mere overall rating of 93 while former Barca strike partner Neymar is tucked in behind him on 92.

Only one Premier League star has been included in the FIFA 18 top ten, with Chelsea's Eden Hazard sharing ninth place with Toni Kroos, each boasting a rating of 90 apiece.

Here's the eagerly awaited top 10:

1. Cristiano Ronaldo

2. Lionel Messi

3. Neymar

4. Luis Suarez

5. Manuel Neuer

6. Robert Lewandowski

7. Sergio Ramos

8. Eden Hazard

9. Toni Kroos

10. Gonzalo Higuain
