Non-league club Baldock Town make hilarious sub in FA Cup qualifying
With times tighter than ever down in the non-leagues, Baldock Town laid bare the realities of life in the lower tiers for all to see on Sunday afternoon.
Baldock were playing North Greenford United in the preliminary rounds of the FA Cup and, as always, the club studiously live-tweeted the match in its entirety -- well, apart from the last 10 minutes.
Indeed, the live feed inexplicably stopped shortly after Town had gone 3-1 ahead, leaving confused fans wondering quite what disaster had befallen their team.
Then, after the match, the club had rather brilliant explanation.
Sorry for the lack of updates during the last 10 mins yesterday. Our Twitter correspondant had to go on as sub.— Baldock Town FC (@baldocktownfc) August 21, 2017
One fan then cheekily asked Town's social media correspondent to rate the late sub's performance.
"He was very good. Should have started," came the tongue-in-cheek response.
Oh non-league football, we do love you so. Never change.
