Crystal Palace's cheeky gag on Twitter after General Election

With the transfer window open and silly season in full swing, several football players and clubs have begun using their official social media channels to nip spurious transfer rumours in the bud.

To that end, a rather large rumour was sparked in the aftermath of the General Election result when a tweet from the BBC's political editor Laura Kuenssberg appeared to confirm that Prime Minister Theresa May would be arriving at Palace on Friday afternoon.

Not so, it would seem.

Indeed, the reports were quickly refuted when Palace themselves spoke out and publicly scotched the speculation.

Obviously the Eagles are keen to play it coy in their ongoing search for a new right winger.

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.
