Man United's Michael Carrick made adorable kids' TV appearance aged 13

Having recently signed a one-year contract extension that will take him past his 36th birthday, it's probably fair to suggest that Michael Carrick is now entering the twilight stage of his professional career.

Indeed, the Manchester United veteran has his testimonial coming up this weekend and, in the spirit of retrospect, the club paid homage by posting a clip of the young Carrick appearing on British television in the early 1990s.

Carrick, then aged 13 and playing for his local Wallsend Boys Club, appeared on UK kids TV show "Live & Kicking!" to discuss his career aspirations and his love for all things football.

"When I get the ball I like to give it to other players or lay it off. I don't always just go and try to score goals myself." the fresh-faced youngster tells the camera.

"I try to give it other players and give them chances as well."

Somethings never change.
