Man United call out Mats Hummels over Henrikh Mkhitaryan goal of the month

When Henrikh Mkhitaryan won three straight Goal of the Month awards for Manchester United in 2016-17, there was but one dissenting voice -- and that voice belonged to none other than Mats Hummels.

Hummels was rendered incredulous when his former Dortmund teammate secured a hat trick of awards during his first few months at Old Trafford, even enquiring as to whether he had a place on the judging panel.

Mkhitaryan responded, simply claiming that excess levels of "Miki Magic" were responsible for his run of good form in front of goal.

Indeed, so potent was the magic that, after taking the prize in December, January and February, the Armenian forward has also been voted as the winner of April's Goal of the Month poll too.

Sensing that Hummels would probably be utterly aghast at the news, United took the unusual step of Tweeting the Bayern defender directly.

Bayern fans can probably expect Hummels to be ruled out of Saturday's Bundesliga game against Darmstadt with an acute injury caused when his jaw hit the floor while skimming through his Twitter mentions.

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.
