Ajax fans in fine voice singing 'No Woman, No Cry' by Bob Marley

Despite carrying over a 2-0 lead, it looked very much like Ajax would be crashing out of the Europa League when Schalke cancelled the deficit within the first hour of the second leg.

Things then looked increasingly bleak for the Eredivisie side when they had Joel Veltman sent off in the 80th minute, and then Schalke scored again in the opening stages of extra time.

However, Ajax eventually pulled themselves together with two late, late goals to snatch a 4-3 aggregate victory from the jaws of defeat -- leaving their travelling fans to rejoice in musical unison after the final whistle.

Cracking scenes, and awfully congenial of Schalke to pipe Ajax's unofficial club anthem into the stadium after the match, especially given the dramatic nature of the result.

As for the Dutch side, they must have loved celebrating their first European semifinal for 20 years with a timely blast of Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry."

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.
