Bastian Schweinsteiger takes up new role as Chicago Fire club photographer

He may well be one of the most heavily decorated footballers in the world but it looks like Bastian Schweinsteiger is still quite some way from being a household name in Canada.

Indeed, when one lady spotted the Chicago Fire entourage making their way through Toronto airport, she decided to politely ask the 2014 World Cup winner and former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder if he'd mind taking a photo of her with the rest of the players.

Thankfully, Fire's assistant head coach Eric Gehrig was on hand to capture the scene for posterity.

Still, it would appear that ex-Germany captain Schweinsteiger was humble enough to take the snap without complaint.

Hopefully, Basti's public profile will be a little higher in Canada after the Fire square off against Toronto FC at BMO Field on Saturday night.

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.
