Cristiano Ronaldo 'magic' to send Sheff Wednesday to Premier League?

Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed a fine night on Tuesday, scoring three goals to fire Real Madrid into the semifinals of the Champions League. Could he now provide the "magic" to send Sheffield Wednesday to the Premier League?

That's what Wednesday midfielder Jose Semedo reckons -- they are lifelong friends after coming through Sporting Lisbon's youth system and holiday together regularly too.

The superstar forward has always promised he would one day make the trip across from Spain to watch Semedo's team in action.

Semedo was one of the first people to call to congratulate Ronaldo on his treble against Bayern Munich, and he is praying Ronaldo will be Wednesday's extra man in the Championship promotion race.

Asked by Alan Biggs on Sheffield Live TV, Semedo said: "He will come one day. I hope this season, because this is a special season and I have a great feeling he will come at the right time.

"I dream to see him come to the playoff final. The is a beautiful thing, one of the games of the playoffs, to turn up because it's when we need the sherry, the little boost, and the magic is on him."

It would be quite poetic, as Wednesday supporters sing that fans' favourite Semedo is "magic" himself.

With Wednesday currently occupying a playoff place in the Championship, they are very much in the shakeup for a place in the Premier League next season -- maybe having Ronaldo cheering them on in the stands could be the difference.
