Cruz Azul visited by sorceress Zulema, hoping to break decades-long curse

Well, things have taken an even darker twist for struggling Cruz Azul, as if that was even possible.

La Maquina, currently 15th in the Liga MX table with three match dates remaining in the 2017 Clausura, received a visit from La Bruja Zulema, a sorceress in leather pants hoping to "cleanse" the club of its decades-long curse.

She arrived outside of Cruz Azul's facilities equipped with pig and hog heads, coconuts and hard liquor among other things to put her magic to the test for a club that's gone nearly 20 years without a Liga MX trophy -- and sits in last place in our Liga MX Power Rankings ...

Zulema said that there was evidence of chicken and other animal bones around the facilities and that her job was to "break that curse."

"No one paid me, I came for me. I want to show that witchcraft exists for things both good and bad," she added, assuring that while the ritual should help the team beat Chivas on Saturday, she would need access to the players and coaching staff to help them win a title.

In the case of a victory, Zulema is expecting a thank you at the very least from a club that's in desperate need of a little good luck.

Only time will tell if witchcraft really does exist ...
