Jose Mourinho hands a tired Marcos Rojo a banana mid-match

Jose Mourinho, the "Special One," is known as a tactical genius and a man who finds a way to win with every team he's managed through the years.

But one moniker we've never heard in conjunction with his name is nutritional specialist ... until Thursday. With his squad, in particular defender Marcos Rojo, at the limit in their 1-0 Europa League win against Rostov, Mourinho reached into his bag of tricks once again and pulled out a, wait for it, banana, which he handed to Ashley Young to pass off to the gassed Argentina international.

Asked about it after the match, Mourinho admitted he was worried about his team -- in the midst of a nasty fun of fixtures across the Premier League, FA Cup and Europe -- and their ability to get to full-time against their Russian opponents.

Mourinho said: "I was afraid of extra-time and I knew I had Marcos Rojo in trouble, so it was a difficult game.

"If you were tired any time in your life, I was tired many times, I know what the body needs. It needs anything. The player asked for a banana. But it's not to laugh at all. It's to respect the players."

Don't worry Jose, no one thinks your brand of sports science is any kind of laughing matter.
