Hellas Verona fan receives stadium ban for wearing swim trunks and flip flops
One pioneering fan of Serie B side Hellas Verona has been handed a ban for the crime of turning up for a match while wearing a bathrobe, swimming trunks and a pair of flip flops.
Indeed, the fan sported the aforementioned ensemble to watch Hellas play at Avellino's Stadio Partenio Lombardi on Feb. 11.
According to Mediaset, he has since been issued with a DASPO (effectively a nationwide stadium ban), as it wasn't the hero of the hour's first offence.
Rather amusingly, the as-yet unnamed supporter was previously reprimanded for donning a full ski outfit in the terraces for last month's home tie against Salernitana.
In a week that has seen a rogue pie cost a man his job, it's perhaps refreshing to see that the Italian football authorities are just as curmudgeonly as their English counterparts.
