AIK fans sing birthday song to teenage striker Alexander Isak

Prodigious young AIK forward Alexander Isak marked the very day of his 17th birthday by scoring two goals in a 3-0 derby win over Swedish rivals Djurgarden.

So impressed were the 8,000 or so travelling AIK fans that they singled out Isak for special praise after the match, roaring in unison as they gave him a traditional Swedish birthday serenade from behind the goal.

The song the AIK fans bellowed at Isak dates from the 18th century and is called "Ja, ma han leva," which translates as "Yes, he may live."

The words, we're reliably informed, go a little something like this:

"Yes, may he live for a hundred years. Of course he will live. Of course he will live. Of course he will live for a hundred years.

"And when he has lived, and when he has lived for a hundred years, well then he should be pushed, well then he should be pushed on a wheelbarrow forth."

How nice.

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.
