John Stones listed in Man City's Champions League squad by UEFA

Manchester City had been linked with a move for Everton and England defender John Stones all summer, but as of Tuesday morning no deal had been officially announced.

However, when UEFA published the Man City squad for the Champions League playoff round it had one very interesting addition.

Will John Stones be playing for Manchester City later this month?

Along with new signings Nolito and Leroy Sane, there was the name of a certain John Stones. UEFA displayed the defender as  having the No. 24 shirt -- which was vacant on the Man City squad list.

Eliaquim Mangala, Samir Nasri and Wilfried Bony were missing from the list along with injured duo Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan. City's pursuit of Stones has been made more urgent as captain Kompany is still recovering from a groin strain while Nicolas Otamendi and Mangala both missed Sunday's friendly with Arsenal.

Oops. Did UEFA let a considerably large cat out of the bag? It seems so. Later on Tuesday morning, City officially announced the signing of Stones.
