Spongebob Squarepants trousers gets goalkeeper in trouble

As strange as it may sound, a professional goalkeeper has been hit with a six-month suspension for a series of conduct breaches.

Indeed, the Associated Press are reporting that former Persepolis goalkeeper Sosha Makani has been banned after he was photographed wearing a pair of trousers that were too reminiscent of Spongebob Squarepants for the Iranian football federation's liking.

The original photo was first posted on social media in early May. Since then, the Iranian FA's morality committee have declared that Makani's pants were in breach of the country's strict clothing laws and therefore represented "inappropriate conduct".

That's a first.
