Edwin van der Sar, 45, set to come out of retirement for VV Noordwijk
Former Dutch international goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has announced that he is set to defy his creaking bones and come out of retirement at the grand old age of 45.
Van der Sar's last competitive appearance came for Manchester United in the 2011 Champions League final. His next will come in the second tier of the Dutch amateur leagues.
The former Ajax, Juventus and Fulham stopper has agreed to make a special one-off appearance for his boyhood club VV Noordwijk after their first-choice keeper, Mustafa Amezrine, sustained a knee injury during a recent tie.
Noordwijk currently play in the Hoofdklasse, which is the fourth tier of Dutch football.
