Barcelona star Lionel Messi sends shirt to the 'boy in the plastic bag'

While the name Murtaza Ahmadi might not be instantly recognisable, you'll almost certainly know his as the young football fan who made headlines the world over last month after being photographed in a homemade Lionel Messi shirt fashioned from a stripy plastic bag.

A global search was then launched to track Murtaza down, with Messi's own PR team joining in to make contact with the Barcelona star's biggest fan.

The search was successful. Murtaza was found to hail from a remote region of southern Afghanistan, with Messi wasting little time in attempting to arrange a special meeting.

In the meantime, the five-year-old was treated to a brand new Barca strip courtesy of the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), who also invited him along for a day's training at their soccer centre in Kabul.

Now, with Messi still in the process of scheduling his trip to the Afghan capital, Murtaza has received yet more goodies -- this time from the man himself.

Judging by that beaming face, we think Murtaza is rather pleased with his latest haul.
