Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp presented with postmatch pretzel by Augsburg
Jurgen Klopp is rarely short of a smile but he was touched on Thursday when FC Augsburg decided to offer a little gesture to make him feel back at home.
The Europa League round of 32 had handed the Liverpool manager his first trip to Germany in a footballing sense since leaving Borussia Dortmund in May 2015, and his first visit to his homeland since Oktoberfest.
Despite his enthusiasm for life in England there were certain home comforts Klopp had missed. The 48-year-old told local media on his arrival in Bavaria that he had requested pretzels for dinner, since they were not readily available in Merseyside.
Augsburg -- who kept themselves busy all week charming visiting fans -- clearly took note. After a 0-0 draw that offered precious little cheer, the hosts put the trademark grin back on Klopp's face by presenting him with an amply sized pretzel before his postmatch news conference.
It did the trick: Klopp was as pleased as punch, and promptly tucked in.
