Everton fan beats Barkley, Lennon and Mirallas to goal of the month

Fending off competition from the likes of Ross Barkley, Aaron Lennon and Kevin Mirallas, the hotly contested Everton Goal of the Month award for January has been won by George Shaw.

You may not be instantly familiar with the name but George is the nine-year-old Toffees fan with cerebral palsy who realised his dream of scoring at Goodison Park last month.

During the Premier League tie against Swansea, George was invited on to the pitch to belt one home at the Gwladys Street End in front of thousands of fans.

Young Blue George scores at Goodison Park

Here's the moment nine-year-old George, who has cerebral palsy, scored at the Gwladys Street End after being invited to the game by his hero Gerard Deulofeu.

George's half-time strike garnered an impressive 86 percent of the online poll to see him win the award.

As such, he has now also earned an invite to Everton's glitzy end-of-season awards bash in May.

"I never thought I would win. I thought I'd come close because of all the support I've had but I can't believe I won!" the youngster told the official club site.

"Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me. I can't wait for the end of season awards now. It will be great."

Congratulations George!
