Striker faints on stage while picking up award from Ruud van Nistelrooy

Having scored 24 of the 50 goals SC Heerenveen managed to amass in the Dutch top flight last season and duly landing himself a summer move to Real Sociedad, striker Alfred Finnbogason returned to the Netherlands on Monday evening to pick up his Eredivisie top goalscorer prize at an award ceremony in Amsterdam.

Just as previous two-time recipient Ruud van Nistelrooy was about to hand over the trinket, Finnbogason started to look a little green around the gills, with the 25-year-old Icelandic international teetering slightly before fainting on the stage.

Thankfully, Finnbogason suffered nothing more than a rush of blood to the head and made a swift recovery, with MARCA reporting that the striker was in a "humourous mood" when he eventually got round to accepting the award from the visibly amused Van Nistelrooy.
