Reporter uses vanishing spray to keep rowdy fans at bay

Quite why is beyond us, but it seems that it has become a twice-yearly tradition for certain supporters to head down to their club's training ground and harass Sky Sports' phalanx of roving reporters on transfer deadline day -- from roughly 8am in the morning until gone midnight.

Speaking directly to camera with a gaggle of excitable football fans jostling you from behind is fraught with danger, especially before the watershed, so hats off to QPR correspondent Gary Cotterill who made novel use of one of football's latest technological advances to keep the gurning masses at bay outside the Imperial College sports ground.

Sadly, all that faffing about with spray canisters did mean that Cotterill missed his "car window" interview with Harry Redknapp, with the QPR boss speeding off behind the Sky Sports reporter's back and leaving him nursing a severe case of the Alan Partridges.
