Pique causes stink after plane prank backfires

There is a certain judgemental section of the Barcelona support that would argue Gerard Pique has been stinking the place out with his performances for several months, but the centre-back took it all too literally on a recent team flight to Helsinki.

Deciding that 10,000 feet above the North Atlantic was the perfect place for an old-school prank, Pique set off a stink bomb at the rear of Barca's team plane which created such an abhorrent odour he was subsequently forced to stand up and apologise.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the red-faced Pique was forced to confess his malodorous crime before apologising to his furious teammates, journalists and the cabin crew on board.

This is not the first time that Pique has invoked the wrath of his Barca teammates due to his pranking shenanigans, once being dobbed in by Carles Puyol for pelting players on the team bus with sunflower seeds.

A few years ago Pique also spent the majority of a game throwing popcorn at Barca's physio, then blaming Puyol every time he turned round to see who was bombarding him with snacks.

Then there's the time he announced that he duped the Catalan press by falsely telling them that he and wife Shakira were expecting their first baby...

In short, the guy definitely has previous.
