Football Whispers Dec 14
The latest transfer rumours from around the world.

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Mesut Ozil to Manchester United

The Arsenal playmaker is a Barcelona transfer target but, according to reports in the Daily Mail, he prefers a move to Man United. The German international wants £300,000-a-week and that figure is not said to worry United. Ozil previously worked with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid and is open to being reunited with his former coach. United are in looking for some creative spark in the final third with Henrikh Mkhitaryan now out of favour.

Yerry Mina to Barcelona

Colombian centre-back Mina could be prematurely heading to the Camp Nou if reports in Marca are to be believed. Barcelona have first option on the the defender which requires them to pay Palmeiras £7.9 million to secure his services, but they were not expected to activate the clause to bring the 23-year-old in until next summer. However, Javier Mascherano's desire to quit the club, coupled with Samuel Umtiti's injury, has seen the La Liga leaders fast forward their plans and he could be plying his trade in Spain when the January window opens.

Islam Slimani to Sporting Lisbon

Sporting Lisbon are looking to bring their former striker Slimani back to the club on loan during the winter window. They sit joint top of the Portuguese league and have Astana in the Europa League round-of-32 and A Bola reports the club want to bolster their attacking ranks and believe the Leicester City forward is the man to do just that. He has started only one Premier League game for the Foxes this season.

Dani Garcia to Southampton

Mauricio Pellegrino is planning to raid Eibar to bring Garcia to Southampton. Pellegrino spent the majority of his playing career in La Liga as well as cutting his teeth there as a manager. According to Marca, Pellegrino is going to battle with West Ham United to bring the 27-year-old to England. The midfielder has rejected a contract extension and is able to negotiate a free transfer away from the club in January.

Danny Ings to Newcastle United

Manager Rafael Benitez has been given the green light to go on a spending spree this January to keep Newcastle in the Premier League. Adding a striker to their ranks is top of the list having scored just 16 goals in 17 matches this season, and Danny Ings is a transfer target according to the Daily Star. Liverpool would be open to letting the former Burnley man leave after injuries derailed his time on Merseyside.
