Transfer Rater: Leon Goretzka and Dael Fry to Manchester United
Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.
Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.
Leon Goretzka to Manchester United
The in-demand Schalke midfielder has reportedly considered Bayern Munich or Barcelona to be his preferred destinations, but Manchester United have emerged as the new possibility after Barcelona pulled out of the race. The 22-year-old's contract runs out next summer, and there will be several clubs attempting to snap up the player for a low fee in January, or on a free transfer in June.
Andre Gomes to Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham will be on high alert as Gomes' future at Camp Nou does not look secure. The 24-year-old was a target for Mauricio Pochettino's side in the summer and a deal was close but ultimately failed to materialise. Diario Gol say that Inter Milan are interested in a loan move with an option to buy, and it's also been reported that this will encourage the north London club to go back in for a player who now tops their list of transfer targets.
Ademola Lookman to Huddersfield Town
A number of clubs are looking at Everton's promising young striker, who has remained out of the side for much of the season under Ronald Koeman. While fellow U20 World Cup winner Dominic Calvert-Lewin sees plenty of game time, Lookman will be disappointed that he has been left on the sidelines, and Huddersfield think they can offer him the first-team football he deserves. Reports in the Daily Mirror suggest Huddersfield, who tried to loan him in the summer, could return for a permanent move in January.
Dael Fry to Manchester United
A number of clubs are interested in the Middlesbrough defender, who was recently called up to the England U21 squad. The 20-year-old has represented his country from U17 level and beyond, and was part of the U20 World Cup win along with the aforementioned Lookman. The Daily Mail report that Jose Mourinho's side are one of the clubs interested and could turn the players' head should their interest result in a bid.
Julian Draxler to Arsenal
This rumour has been popping up regularly but now there seems to be an option which could suit Arsene Wenger's side. With Alexis Sanchez out of contract in the summer, Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly try to ensure they sign the Chilean by offering Draxler to Arsenal in January as part of a deal, according to the Daily Star. The former Wolfsburg man was a top transfer target for Arsenal in the summer.
