Players due for contract renewal
Goalkeeping duo Willy Caballero and Eduardo's deal both expires in 2018) while No. 1 Thibaut Courtois is committed for a further year. Cesc Fabregas, David Luiz, Pedro Rodriguez, Gary Cahill and Charly Musonda are also all on contracts that run out in 2019.
Areas of squad still with shortcomings
Chelsea need quantity to supplement their quality. Cover at both wing-back positions and central midfield are the top priorities, while another forward is also desired.
Has this been a good transfer window for the club?
It certainly hasn't gone entirely to plan (Romelu Lukaku and Alex Sandro would both be at Stamford Bridge if it had) but Alvaro Morata and Tiemoue Bakayoko are promising replacements for Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic.
The decision to sell or loan out so many fringe youngsters also left Antonio Conte's squad dangerously short on numbers to start the season, but as long as adequate squad cover is secured before Thursday's deadline, Chelsea have addressed their most urgent needs.
