Chelsea rival Man United, Arsenal for Saints stars Clyne and Schneiderlin

Southampton now have worry about Chelsea -- rather than just Man United and Arsenal -- chasing after their best players.

As the summer window draws ever closer, the transfer rumours and gossip continue to spread...

Chelsea want Saints duo too

Are Southampton heading towards another Summer exodus?

The south-coast side have defied all expectations by staying in the upper echelons of the Premier League despite being shorn of half a dozen players and their manager during the off-season. That success, however, may have come at a cost.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal have, over the past few months, been linked with moves for Nathaniel Clyne and Morgan Schneiderlin respectively, but Thursday's revelation in the Guardian that Chelsea are also considering bids for the duo looks to be a little more ominous for the Ronald Koeman-coached side.

The Premier League leaders reportedly took a look at the pair during the Saints' 1-0 defeat at Everton on Saturday as Jose Mourinho continues to identify potential recruits for next season. Knowing the Blues are lurking may just force United and the Gunners into making firm bids on the two, triggering a chain-reaction that once again would leave Southampton at the foot of yet another rebuilding project.

Tottenham, of course, have held a long-standing fascination in Jay Rodriguez, Saido Mane has been courting interest from Portugal and it's only a matter of time before James Ward-Prowse's efforts begin to attract the attention of the Premier League elite.

Koeman should be readying himself for another busy transfer window.

Did Odegaard make the wrong move?

Just months after his €8 million dream move to Real Madrid, Martin Odegaard has been dropped from the Real Madrid Castilla B side.

Has the much-hyped Norwegian teenager made the wrong move? The ESPN FC TV crew weigh in on the debate:

Gomes denies Blues interest

Andre Gomes' excellent form this season for Valencia hasn't gone unnoticed in England, with Manchester United and Chelsea both being linked with the Portugal international.

The £36million-rated midfielder, however, has confirmed that he is happy to continue playing for Los Che for the time being.

"I'm not worried about what the future holds. I am convinced that I will stay in Valencia because I am very happy here," Gomes said according to the Express.

"I just think about spending the next season in Spain. Chelsea? I do not know anything and also my agent is not aware of any opportunity."

Note that the 21-year-old didn't rule out Man United. That's a sign right!?

Leverkusen in for Ayew?

Bayer Leverkusen boss Roger Schmidt has opened up about his chances of signing Marseille's Andre Ayew, while also addressing Bayern Munich's reported interest in Gonzalo Castro:

Tap-ins

- Under-fire A-League side Perth Glory have announced that they have terminated the loan of 26-year-old midfielder Mitch Nichols. The Australia international will now head back to his parent club Cerezo Osaka.

- According to the Sun, West Bromwich Albion are planning sign Marseille's soon-to-be out of contract striker Andre-Pierre Gignac on a free transfer at the end of the season. It'll be a significant transfer coup if the Baggies can get their man.

- Marca has confirmed that Barcelona have opened up contract talks with 35-year-old club legend Xavi Hernandez.
