Transfer Rater: Thomas Lemar to Liverpool, Matteo Darmian to Napoli
Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.
Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.
Jack Colback to Derby County
Newcastle United midfielder Colback is a Derby County target, according to TeamTalk. The 28-year-old is yet to play for Rafa Benitez's side this season following their return to the Premier League and has been told he is free to leave. "He knows what the situation is and we will continue working with the players we have available now," said Newcastle boss Benitez. "He knew from the beginning we had four or five midfielders. I didn't want to have six."
Thomas Lemar to Liverpool
Liverpool will go back in for Lemar in January, with manager Jurgen Klopp a long-time admirer of the 22-year-old, according to the Independent. Staff at Anfield reportedly believe the Frenchman wants to move to Liverpool, despite him also being an Arsenal target. Monaco rate him at £90 million and Liverpool would be willing to pay that, even if they don't sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.
Steven N'Zonzi to West Ham United
N'Zonzi is set to leave Sevilla after a public falling out with coach Eduardo Berizzo. The former Stoke City man was unhappy at being substituted at half time during the Spanish side's 3-3 draw with Liverpool in November. He's made it clear his future lies away from Seville and has been spotted at Gatwick Airport, fuelling speculation of a return to England. The Evening Standard say West Ham United want the 29-year-old and will go head-to-head with Everton for his signature.
Matteo Darmian to Napoli
Sky Sports claim Napoli are interested in signing Manchester United defender Darmian. The Italian is said to be keen on a move away from Old Trafford due to a lack of game time. Darmian has been in and out of the first team this season, making only four Premier League appearances, although he was in the starting lineup for Wednesday's Carabao Cup quarterfinal defeat to Bristol City.
Luis Suarez to Tottenham
With Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann a Barcelona target, Tottenham believe they can try and tempt Suarez from the Camp Nou with a Premier League return, according to Don Balon. With the Catalan club wanting to freshen up their front line and the Uruguayan less prolific this season -- he has nine goals in 21 appearances -- Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly considering a surprise swoop. However, it's reported Suarez isn't considering Tottenham's interest in him. The low 1.8 score on the Football Whispers Index suggests the move is pretty unlikely.
