Vlaar almost 'un-misses' missed PK

Ron Vlaar of the Netherlands missed the all-important first attempt in his team's World Cup penalty shootout vs. Argentina. But he might not have missed it by quite as much as it looked. His effort was clearly returned to sender by Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero. But take a look at some of these bits that have turned up on social media in the last 24 hours and you'll see the ball almost spin back into the net. 

From that view, it's hard to A. see what happens to the ball at the end, and B. whether or not Vlaar touched the ball with his shoulder as it spun back. Here's another look:

Ultimately, the ball stopped short of crossing the goal line anyway. But it certainly makes one wonder, what if?
