Premier League Fantasy tips: Resources

We are moving closer to the beginning of eight months of unmitigated joy and the start of another Premier League fantasy football season on ESPNFC.

Sir John has compiled a resource list that hopefully will assist you in the weeks and months to come. The key to fantasy success is information on players, managers and teams. It will be your best friend for competing and much can be found on the internet.

ESPNFC has team pages, upcoming fixtures, player profiles, scoring history, and weekly previews.

Search engines can take you to specific player information for the latest news stories. This is useful when a player has had an injury and you are waiting for updates that are not posted on the physio web page below.

You can also do a search of newspapers in each of the Premier League cities to read the latest in their sports pages. You will find wild, tabloid-type coverage and few in-depth pieces.

Below is a list of what I have found to be useful web sites for fantasy football. Here are the ones Sir John checks on a regular basis:

1. ESPNFC Fixtures and Results This is a good page to copy and have handy. It also will list matches played and game summaries.

2. Goal.com This web page usually has the projected line-ups for the next day. Best to check late on Friday. Goal.com also has grades that are given to the players after each game and comments for each player.

3. PhysioRoom.com This provides a fairly reliable listing of injuries and expected return date for players on each team. New entries are usually up on a daily basis.

4. ESPNFC team news This is a quick preview of each game coming up with team news and predicted outcome. It is with the latest news throughout Friday of each week.

5. World Soccer Talk This is excellent, with wide-ranging topics on a web page that used to be EPL Talk. Hopefully, this resource will be heavy on Premier League news. There are good articles on football broadcasts and commentators.

6. Fantasy Football Scout This is an excellent resource for injuries and suspensions and other statistics including set piece takers.

7. Football365 Breezy web site with news about the beautiful game, complete with rumors, injury updates, etc.

8. Premier League.com Another source for information, not as easy to navigate as ESPNFC, but useful. One feature on this page is their game tracker that follows a match with commentary much like Gamecast on ESPNFC. It will list assists, yellow cards and other developments in a game.

9. NBC Sports Click on Premier League. This is the first season I will be using the web page, so we will see how helpful it is.

NBC takes over from Fox Soccer Channel and we wait with trepidation how the network will handle the beautiful English game, including who will be the announcers and commentators.

10. BBC Sport Additional source for analysis.

11. Guardian A good source for various statistics

12. Give Me Sport Name changed from Give Me Football

13. Squawka Fine resource for in-depth statistics.

14. WhoScored? Another place for statistics.
