Chelsea trio face the axe

The evolution of Chelsea could turn into a full scale revolution, with reports suggesting that the club is in no hurry to open contract talks with stalwarts John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole. The England trio have been at the heart of much of the recent success for the Blues, but, according to the Daily Star, club owner Roman Abramovich is refusing to sanction talks until closer to the end of the season. And that could mean a mass exodus with a host of clubs beginning to circle Stamford Bridge before the January window. Galatasaray are rumoured to be interested in Terry, while the MLS is firming as a viable option for Lampard and Cole. Meanwhile, the club could also lose talented goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois with Marca reporting that Barcelona have opened talks with the Belgium international.

Across London, Tottenham could be about to lose one of their summer acquisitions with La Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are lining up bids for Erik Lamela. The 21-year-old Lamela has made only eight appearances in the Premier League since making his move to England from Roma in August and his struggles have alerted clubs on the continent. Atletico have made a blistering start to the season and top La Liga with Barcelona while Inter Milan could use a player with Serie A experience to reel in Juventus.

Finally, Hull City are expected to break the bank to recruit Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher in the January window. Scotland international Fletcher has reportedly fallen down the pecking order under Gus Poyet and could be sold for the right price. Unfortunately for Hull boss Steve Bruce, that price could be in the figure of 6 million pounds. But, according to the Mirror, Bruce may continue with his chase of the 26-year-old with the club desperate to boost its firepower ahead of a long fight against the threat of relegation.
