20.05 BST: Excited much, Arsenal fans? Here's our story on the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal.

17.59 BST: Arsenal are confident of wrapping up the transfers of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona and Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle "imminently," sources close to the deals have told ESPN FC.
17.30 BST: Not a club likely to appear on the blog very often but Tamworth FC boss Dale Belford has told reporters Premier League new-boys Burnley are favourites to sign wonderkid teenager Kaiyne Woolery. The teen spent theback end of last season on trial at Turf Moor but is said to be interested by a potential move to West Brom as well.
17.25 BST: Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has let slip in a report by the BBC that he is considering trying to bring in Gylfi Sigurdsson to the club for a second time from Tottenham Hotspur.
17.20 BST: They may not have signed anybody yet but Harry Redknapp must be pleased they haven't lost anyone either. Especially number 1 goalkeeper Robert Green.
17.17 BST: Lucky lucky Ajax. As if four straight Eredivisie titles despite the sales of their best players wasn't enough. The Daily Mirror are reporting the Dutch champions are set to pocket £5 million from the Luis Suarez transfer due to a sell-on clause in the deal taking him from Amsterdam to Anfield. Incredible scenes.

Lazar Markovic medical, which was supposed to take place today, has been delayed due to 'logistical issues'. Now likely to be Fri/Sat- James Pearce (@JamesPearceEcho) July 10, 2014
16.50 BST: In a surprise turn of events, Alexandre Pato could be offered a route back into European football. Not quite the dream move to Italy he desired but a move nonethless as Fenerbahce prepare a £5 million offer to take him from Corinthians. A potential swap is on the cards with midfielder Cristian Baroni going the other way.
16.42 BST: Gary Medel's protracted transfer looks like it may drag on even further after Cardiff quoted Inter Milan £13 million for the Chilean's services. Inter are hoping to finalise a deal around the £10 million mark. Gazzetto dello Sport also say the players singular desire to play for Inter may help them bargain a lesser deal.
16.34 BST: A rather assumptive piece in the Guardian suggests Mats Hummels would be open to a £30 million move to Manchester United because he went and watched them when he was 18 play Wigan at Old Trafford. Not sure about that...
16.25 BST: Can't imagine showdown talks involving Alan Hutton and Paul Lambert are going to be anything but explosive. But apparently that is exactly what is going to happen. Hutton is furious with Lambert, who has not played him for TWO YEARS, and the Mirror say he wants to know why a move to West Brom was blocked.
16.14 BST: Looks like Barcelona's media team made a boo-boo. And now Lee Dixon is getting in on the act.
Alexis is in London and Barça accidently announce transfer http://t.co/GkTcrwLYx2- AS English (@English_AS) July 10, 2014
Just spoke to Arsene. He's very happy about Sanchez and Debuchy- Lee Dixon (@LeeDixon2) July 10, 2014
16.13 BST: Another string to the bow of the rumours surrounding the future of Stefan De Vrij. Apparently Feyenoord are still negotiating with clubs for the central defender. Lazio seem confident the deal is in the bag but recent reports now add Hamburg and Manchester United into the mix. Who knows how this one could end...
16.06 BST: You know when a transfer rumour is rehashed year after year after year it actually becomes a bit nauseating? Well that is what has happened again this time with the news Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has told Manchester United that Wesley Sneijder will cost £16 million. Aysal said: "Sneijder is a good player. We want to keep him at Galatasaray. If we receive an offer of 20 million euros (£16 milloin) we do not have the luxury of saying no. That is stipulated in the contract. All I can say is that if any club pays us 20million euros and he wants to go then we can't force him to stay - it's written in his contract."
16.00 BST: It really truly is all about the money. Never mind Walter Samuel is a multi-millionaire footballer without a club to play for, he has decided to stall negotiations with Sampdoria because he is not too happy with the wages on offer. At 36 years old he can hardly be calling the shots and yet according to La Republicca report Sampdoria have buckled and decided to offer him a £1 million per year deal making him the highest paid player at the club.
15.54 BST: PSG wonderkid Adrien Rabiot looks set to leave the French champions this summer in search of first-team football. Chelsea have reportedly offered £9 million for the young midfielder but interest from Roma and Inter Milan is there. Neither of the Serie A clubs could match the fee offered by Chelsea but would be able to guarantee more first-team action than the Premier League giants. And that is said to be high in Rabiot's priorities in his search for a new club.
15.49 BST: Boom! Leicester City looking to spend big!
- John Percy (@John__Percy) July 10, 2014
15.42 BST: Not too sure there ever was any speculation about his future but Samir Nasri's importance to Manchester City has been underlined by his huge new five-year contract confirmed moments ago.
15.40 BST: The deal to take Alvaro Morata to Juventus from Real Madrid has been all but completed. A £17.5 million fee has been agreed between the clubs and Morata is quoted by Marca as 'not being able to wait' to get to Turin. However, as with many deals Real Madrid seem to do these days, Los Blancos have the option of buying back Morata for £23.8 million in one year's time should they want him back at the Bernebeu.
15.30 BST: Oh the quotes no Swansea fan would have wanted to see. Aurelio De Laurentiis, the Napoli money-man, has declared contracts are already being drawn up with regard to signing prolifiic Spaniard Michu.... and Lucas Leiva from Liverpool. He told Sky Italia: "Michu and Leiva? We continue to monitor the situation. We're having discussions, probably we're also doing some contract drafting."
15.25 BST: Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has confirmed Keita Balde Diao has signed a new deal with the club and that he still expects Stefan de Vrij to sign for the Rome club. In apress conference he said of De Vrij: "A lot has been said, it's been said that Manchester United have already finalised a deal but that isn't true. His agent has been clear, he's said that nothing is true and that the will of the player is to play for Lazio."
15.13 BST: SANCHEZ ALERT! He is now in London apparently.
15.11 BST: Liverpool are demanding a whopping £7 million if Sevilla want to bring in Iago Aspas. With interest in Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno, one would expect Liverpool wouldn't be driving such a hard-bargain but reports in the Metro suggest Liverpool are determined to sell and not loan the attacking midfielder.
15.04 BST: This is the most ridiculous transfer story of the year so far. Definitely. You know Filipe Luis of Atletico Madrid who is almost certainly going to join Chelsea. Well TalkSport seem to think Tottenham have launched an audacious bid to try and hijack the deal and bring him to White Hart Lane. Erm... no.
14.58 BST: With the impending signing of Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal, it looks like they have cooled their interest in Antoine Griezmann. With things as they are L'Equipe claim Monaco have now jumped to the head of the queue for the French winger. Real Sociedad are said to be resigned to losing their star man and Monaco could be his next destination with a £30 million bid expected to seal the deal.
14.50 BST: We're relatively sure it won't change anything with regard to the transfer to Barcelona but still important news nonetheless. Apparently he can still appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport though.
BREAKING: Luis Suarez's appeal over his four-month ban has been rejected by FIFA. The suspension stands. pic.twitter.com/BiSu1372zj- ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) July 10, 2014
14.42 BST: BREAKING! As we said earlier, West Ham have apparently made a £12 million offer for Enner Valencia according to Sky Sources. Oh and here is a link to the full story on Werder Bremen's signing of Izet Hajrovic.
14.40 BST: Another Schalke player. Another link away. This time it is left back Christian Fuchs who has been linked with a move to Southampton or Palermo. But now Bild report Bordeaux have also joined the race for the German international's signature.
14.33 BST: Some news out of Italy worth updating you all on... Paolo Cannavaro has signed a new deal with Sassuolo. Read the full story here. And we've also got the full story on World Cup winner Alberto Gilardino's move to Gunagzhou Evergrande.
14.26 BST: Former Atletico Madrid midfielder Diego Ribas makes 'a dream come true' as he signs for Fenerbahce.
DONE DEAL (Photo Confirmation)- Diego Ribas signs for Fenerbahce on a 3 year-deal. pic.twitter.com/n3ozFgaSeg- Transfer Swoop (@SwoopTransfer) July 9, 2014
14.20 BST: According to Il Messaggero Tottenham target Davide Astori is in talks with Galatasaray.
14.16 BST: Favourite rumour of the day award goes to the Daily Mail who have imagined a world where Didier Drogba is considering coming back to Chelsea after Jose Mourinho offered him a place in his squad next season. As comebacks go, this will either be a disaster or a masterstroke.
14.12 BST: Love them when they come out of left-field, like this one from the Telegraph's Matt Law.
14.09 BST: Now in slightly less exciting news, Michael Essien is currently considering an offer from Turkey to join Trabzonspor according to Tuttosport.
14.02 BST: It is official! Mario Mandzukic is now an Atletico Madrid player.
DONE DEAL: Mario Mandzukić (28) has completed a transfer to Atlético Madrid. All the best, Mario!- FC Bayern English (@FCBayernEN) July 10, 2014
14.00 BST: Absolutely loving how ambitious West Ham are being in the transfer market. Makes a change at least. The latest reports from the Daily Telegraph suggest the Hammers are looking to sign Enner Valencia in the hope that by concluding a £10 million deal swiftly, the Ecuadorian can be persuaded to join the east London club. However, should a deal with Pachuca be pushed through, it would end any interest in Yehven Konoplyanka as Dynamo Kiev are demanding £12 million for the winger - moving him out of West Ham's price range.
13.52 BST: Southampton's rebuilding job continues as the Daily Telegraph report Norwich City's Nathan Redmond has become a prime target of coach Ronald Koeman. The Canaries are not going to step in the way of Redmond returning to the Premier League but it is thought the £6 million fee being demanded could be a sticking point in any deal.
13.49 BST: Possibly outbound Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel has been talking about the imminent signing of Alexis Sanchez. He told La Xarxa: "Arsenal is a great team for Alexis. He would fit perfectly, he would adapt perfectly. It would be great to have Alexis at Arsenal because he is a great player. Alexis with Chile had much more freedom than he did at Barca. I think he has Adapted well at Barca, he has had matches where he has a chance to shine. Alexis and I hope Arsenal can agree. That is why I need to stay. "
13.46 BST: DONE DEAL! Again, a little late to the party but here is a great photo of Everton's first signing of the summer, Gareth Barry, posing with Roberto Martinez and his three-year contract.
13.40 BST: A transfer we expected to happen, has happened. Good luck Alberto Gilardino in China.
Official: 2006 World Cup winner Gilardino signed for Guangzhou Evergrande, coached by 2006 trainer Lippi- Tancredi Palmeri (@tancredipalmeri) July 10, 2014
13.35 BST: This is a hilarious little story as West Ham were brandished a 'mid-table club' by an agent of a player who's only offer currently is from... West Ham. Uli Ferber is quoted in O Jogo as saying West Ham are a mid-table club and his client Antonio Rudiger is only interested in a move to Porto. Should it transpire. Can't recommend clicking on the link enough!
13.28 BST: Alessandro Matri looks all set to move to Genoa from AC Milan. The former £11 million man will head to Genoa as part of a swap deal for Sime Vrasljko. He is apparently having a medical at Grifone today ahead of confirming the deal in the coming days.
13.25 BST: More from the Lucas Leiva to Napoli drama as Il Mattino say the Brazilian will join from Liverpool on loan for a season with a view to a £15 million permanent deal next year.
13.17 BST: Chelsea may be set to lose one forward in Romelu Lukaku and could be about to lose another after Feyenoord registered their interest in Charley Musonda. The youngster is wanted on loan according to Voetbal International, who also say Feyenoord are desperate to win the title and diminish Ajax's stranglehold on the competition this season.
13.10 BST: Galatasaray have reportedly joined the race to sign Greek international Giorgios Samaras. The former Celtic star, who is expected to leave the Scottish champions on a free transfer, wants a move but Ronny Deila has not given up all hope of signing him back up amid interest from Turkey and Everton. He said: "Samaras had a great career at Celtic but we'll see. We'll look at the whole picture. I have not decided yet and there are many players on our list."
13.05 BST: Benfica are looking to steal a march on signing Real Madrid's Casemiro according to O Jogo. The Portuguese champions are keen to bring in the young Brazilian after Madrid put him up for a transfer. Inter hadbeen reported as close to signing him but baulked at the £12 million being asked.
12.59 BST: Looks like the deal is going to be announced in the next few days.
12.53 BST: Here's a DONE DEAL that managed to bypass us last night. Olympiakos have confirmed the signing of Pajtim Kasami from Fulham on a free transfer.
12.50 BST: So a man wanted by West Brom and Stoke City and Newcastle is holding out for a move to Arsenal while Monaco are happy to cash in on him. Right... Emmanuel Riviere has supposedly held two rounds of talks with the Baggies over a move but the Express and Star say the winger has told his agent to hold off on signing anything while he waits to see if the Arsenal interest can be followed up. Deary me...
12.42 BST: Chelsea are holding out for £8 million if they are to sell Ryan Bertrand according to the Daily Telegraph. Liverpoll have had a £6 million bid rejected while Spurs are also said to hold a strong interest.
12.36 BST: Arsenal and transfer rumours are actually synonymous. The latest from the Daily Express suggests Javi Manquillo of Atletico Madrid who had been due to join Marseille has pulled the plug on that deal amid interest from Arsenal. The French giants thought they had sewn up a deal but the Gunners' interest means the 20-year-old defender has now set his heart on a move to England.
12.30 BST: Another little rumour from Le10 Sport who say Tottenham have opened talks with Morgan Schneiderlin about a move. Apparently the Frenchman's former boss Mauricio Pocchetino wants to be reunited with his midfield enforcer and has sanctioned Spurs officials to go after him.
12.21 BST: Hulk may have had a very disappointing tournament with Brazil but that has not stopped Le10 Sport reporting Monaco want to try and lure the Zenit St Petersburg striker. Apparently the Monaco heirarchy are looking to exploit the fact Hulk is looking for a way out of Russia.
12.15 BST: Arsenal given a burn by a French youngster. Not often that can be reported. Read the full story here.
12.10 BST: As if we didn't know already...
12.07 BST: DONE DEAL! Bosnian international Izet Hajrovic has signed for Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. The former Galatasaray player has signed on a free transfer due to unpaid wages which meant FIFA had to step in and allow him to move. Gala will also have to pay a £4.7 million fine.
- SV Werder Bremen (@werderbremen) July 10, 2014
12.00 BST: Seems like Schalke are going to spend their entire window telling people their players are not for sale. First it was Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Liverpool. Then it was Julian Draxler and Spurs. Now it seems they're going to have to bat away Manchester City who fancy themselves Benedikt Howedes. Read the full story here.
11.54 BST: Newcastle want to hijack a deal for reportedly Arsenal-bound QPR striker Loic Remy. The north-east club want to try and lure Remy back to St James' Park according to GetWestLondon who say the striker is likely to turn down that option because he wants European football.
11.47 BST: A couple of stories out of Barcelona again as Isaac Cuenca has apparently been told he is free to leave the Nou Camp. Another formerly promising youngster whose services are no longer required are that of Jonathan dos Santos who has been sold to Villareal for £1.5 million.
11.42 BST: It seems like this one will be a fond mutual parting of the ways. Read the full story here on Patrice Evra's impending move to Juventus.
11.40 BST: Liverpool's potential interest in Ben Davies and Wilfried Bony of Swansea City is bad news for Tottenham fans. However, despite the reports there has been no official line from the Anfield club about interest and so could be a leak to get Spurs to get their act together and tie up the deals for the South Wales pair.
11.31 BST: The new era at Barcelona really, truly is about to begin according to AS. A report in the Spanish paper suggests Barca, who have already got rid of five players, are looking to sell another six. Cristian Tello, Bojan, Isaac Cuenca, Oier Olazabal, Ibrahim Afellay and Alex Song are the players identified as free to go. Apparently the Catalan club want new boss Luis Enrique to have sold all the players he does not want by the end of next week. Could be a fire-sale for the rest of Europe.
11.23 BST: Former Tottenham defender Steven Caulker is holding out for a move to Liverpool after having talks with both QPR and Crystal Palace according to the Daily Mirror. The lanky Cardiff man wants out of the relegated club and an offer of £8 million could see his transfer completed as it meets his release clause. No Reds offer has been forthcoming, mind...
11.14 BST: After the humiliation handed out to Brazil by Germany the other night, is it any wonder the player's are now looking to their futures? Read the full story on what Dani Alves thinks about his future here.
11.10 BST: He was once one of the hottest young teenagers in the world and a host of clubs around Europe wanted him. But it was AC Milan who got M'Baye Niang's signature. Now, at the tender age of 19, the forward is being touted for a move after failing to impress in his two years at the San Siro. However, today, Gazzetto dello Sport claim the teenager is set to be given a chance to impress new boss Pippo Inzaghi before Adriano Galliani comes to a decision as to whether to sell him. He could be a very good buy for the right club.

10.39 BST: It is looking more and more like Mario Mandzukic will sign for Atletico Madrid after passing one of his two medicals. He has high praise for the Spanish champions.
Mandzukic to @HugoCondesSER at medical "I am very happy. I know a lot about Atléti, have seen many games. I like the coach & style of play."- Dermot Corrigan (@dermotmcorrigan) July 10, 2014
10.34 BST: Arsenal have been told Sami Khedira must be made their highest earner, on £150,000 per week, if he is to join the north Londoners. The London Evening Standard claim Spanish radio station Cadena Ser say the German international would need to be paid more than compatriot Mesut Ozil in order to leave Real Madrid.
10.30 BST: For those transfer geeks out there, and there are a few of us, this one has seemingly been going on forever. Adil Rami is still not an AC Milan player despite reports saying he is close to signing going back almost a year. The Valencia man is valued by his club at £4.5 million while Milan are offering around £1 million less than that. Reports in Italy suggest the deal could be completed sooner if Rami is willing to reduce his wage demands and so the Rossoneri could up their own offer. Gazzetto dello Sport say Rami is actually in Milan at the moment waiting for the transfer to be completed.
10.23 BST: Celtic fans, do not panic. The big brick wall of a goalkeeper you have, Frasier Forster, is NOT a target for Benfica despite their sale of Jan Oblak to Atletico Madrid. The Daily Record said a few days ago that a £6 million deal could be on the cards for the Celtic stopper but O Jogo, having done some digging, have today said those reports are well wide of the mark.
10.20 BST: In other Spurs news, the north Londoners are not giving up in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest's Jamaal Lascelles and hope to bring Forest to the negotiating table by offering to loan the highly-rated defender back to them for next season according to the Daily Mail.
10.14 BST: It is rather amusing when two clubs get perpetually linked with the same players and it seems Spurs and Liverpool are having one of those summers. The latest, Ben Davies of Swansea, who had been reportedly close to a deal with Spurs is now being touted for a move to Liverpool by the Daily Telegraph. The same article suggests the Anfield club will settle the deal to sell Luis Suarez soon.
10.09 BST: A saga of sorts, not quite on the same level as the Luis Suarez or Arturo Vidal sagas, but a saga nonetheless. Liverpool target Alberto Moreno's deal to Anfield looked nearly completed before Sevilla pulled the plug on any deal apparently because of an agent. Well according to the Seville press a deal could be back on after the agent used in the last set of negotiations has been ditched. And the saga continues.
10.05 BST: A worrying story for Spurs fans that Jan Vertonghen's agent has told reporters his client has offers from around Europe. Mustapha Nakhli is either hankering for a new deal at Spurs or genuinely looking for a transfer. We'll have to wait and see on this one.
Jan Vertonghen's agent Mustapha Nakhli doesn't confirm neither deny Barcelona's interest. "A few teams have called me. We'll see." #THFC

09.43 BST: Napoli want Germany international Christoph Kramer, 23, but the holding midfielder will remain at Borussia Monchengladbach, where he has one year remaining on his loan deal, according to Kicker. After that he could return to Bayer Leverkusen, where he is under contract until 2017. But right now, Gladbach are not forced to terminate the loan deal, and they want him to stay.
09.40 BST: Everybody loves Nicklas Bendtner news. And it looks like he will be gracing the Bundesliga next season after Eintracht Frankufrt club chief Heribert Burchhagen told Bild: "We've made an offer for Bendtner within our financial limits. The player can make the decision now. We can't compete with English clubs financially. We only have a chance should Bendtner want to increase his reputation in the Bundesliga, the best league in the world."
09.26 BST: We've covered this topic a couple of times already in the blog this morning, but you can read the full story of Mikel Arteta's agent denying talk of a move to Fiorentina here.
09.23 BST: Stuttgarter Zeitung reports that West Ham and FC Porto are interested in Stuttgart's 21-year-old defender Antonio Rudiger, who made one appearance for Germany ahead of the World Cup. The German club's sporting director, Jochen Schneider, said West Ham wrote an e-mail to ask if "we are ready to discuss a Rudiger transfer" but added: "We've turned that down." Porto allegedly offered 10 million euros, but "even if we did receive such an offer we would not even consider it," Schneider said.
09.10 BST: Real Madrid have put Sami Khedira up for sale, as the midfielder is into last 12 months of his contract and won't sign a new one, El Confidencial claims. The Spanish outlet says Madrid would accept 20 million euros for the Germany international, and spend the money on Luis Gustavo from Wolfsburg. Brazil midfielder Ramires is another option, but Chelsea's asking price is too expensive.
08.59 BST: Eintracht Frankfurt youngster Marc-Oliver Kemp, 19, is to leave the club this summer, but kicker says he has a choice to make with both Freiburg and Juventus interested.
08.24 BST: The Daily Star says Roma are tiring of Manchester City's dallying over the signing of centre-back Medhi Benatia. The Premier League champions are reportedly stalling because they'd rather sign Eliaquim Mangala from Porto. They might well be right to dally by the sounds of things, though: L'Equipe believes City have agreed a 40 million euro fee for France international Mangala.

07.55 BST: An interesting line from The Times: Arsenal have apparently put a price tag of six million pounds on Mikel Arteta after Fiorentina made an approach. The paper says the Gunners are willing to sell the Spaniard as they prepare to bring in Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and Loic Remy. It adds that Santi Cazorla and Thomas Vermaelen could leave the Emirates, while Arsenal -- and Spurs -- have also apparently given up on Morgan Schneiderlin after Southampton asked for 20 million pounds.
07.44 BST: Alvaro Morata will not join Wolfsburg, but the Bundesliga side already have a Plan B in store and now have their sights set on Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku, according to German media. Die Wolfe chief Dr Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz has told Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung he has seen many good forwards at the World Cup, and added: "It would be nice to find one more attacker."

Suarez latest to whet your appetite
Don't hate Transfer Talk because we seem to be contractually bound to talk about Luis Suarez's impending move to Barcelona every time we pen a column. But it seems like, just maybe, this thing is going to happen, and perhaps soon. The latest reports in the Mirror say the deal could be done by the weekend and that offloading Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal -- another move that seems good as done -- is the financial lynchpin.
Not enough info to go on just yet transfer fans? Don't worry, we'll revisit tomorrow.
Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is officially heading to Roma and Serie A, which left a bit of a hole at left-back for Jose Mourinho. The Sun are reporting that hole has been filled with the impending arrival of Atletico Madrid star Filipe Luis in a 20 million-pound deal. Mourinho got an up-close look at the Brazilian in his team's semifinal Champions League tie. Luis is known as a hard-tackling defender who can jump into the attack. He'll join former Atleti teammate Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have also signed Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona and Mario Pasalic from Hajduk Split, which brings Mou's transfer season spending total to 94 million pounds.

Though they left Brazil with nary a win to their name, the Socceroos made an impression on fans around the world with their gritty, energetic play and some truly world-class goal scoring (see Tim Cahill). Now Transfer Talk has learned from our Australian desk that some Premier League clubs were paying attention as well.
Stoke City have shown interest in Australia national forward Mathew Leckie. The 23-year-old has spent the last 3 years in Germany, playing for Monchengladbach and FSV Frankfurt. Italian side Genoa and French teams Rennes and Marseille have also expressed interest in Leckie.
Another 'Roo, Tommy Oar, made a name for himself at the World Cup and WinnerSports.com is reporting that could play itself forward to a season with Crystal Palace in the Prem. Eagles manager Tony Pulis flourished at the end of last season and avoided relegation in convincing fashion -- capped off by the unbelievable comeback against Liverpool to end the Merseyside squad's quest for a Premier League title. Now Pulis is looking to bring some new blood into Selhurst Park and the pacy Australian winger might just be their man.
Evra off to Serie A
Wait, what? French international Patrice Evra is reportedly headed out of Old Trafford to help bolster the back line at Juventus. It sounds odd since Evra just signed a new deal with Man United and was thought to be a stop gap in defence as newly-acquired Luke Shaw settles in. Seems one issue is that Evra's wife, Sandra, is unhappy in Manchester and wanted to move.
United have said they won't try to block Evra from going for the token 1.2 million pound transfer fee. Juve have offered Evra a two-year deal that would pay him 55,000 pounds a week.
Arteta happy at Arsenal
The will-he, won't-he merry-go-round of transfer season is rife with paradox and contradiction. That's a fancy way of saying that, on occasion, we'll report that someone like Arsenal's Mikel Arteta is on his way out the door to the warmer climes and sunnier pastures of Serie A and Fiorentina. Then, the very next day, we'll tell you that Sky Sports are quoting Arteta's agent, Inaki Ibanez, as saying, "I have never spoken with Fiorentina. Mikel has one year more on his contract and he has no desire to go away from Arsenal."
Right, moving on until tomorrow at least.
