Clint Dempsey's fine form has him climbing the Audi Player Index

Clint Dempsey converted a penalty deep into stoppage time to help Seattle earn a dramatic home victory over Minnesota.

David Villa has been dominating the Audi Player Index this season, but Clint Dempsey is starting to make a move forward.

Dempsey was this weekend's leader with a score of 1,019.

That came from converting a penalty in second-half stoppage time to give the Seattle Sounders a 2-1 home win over Minnesota United. He now leads Seattle with 11 goals this season.

Clint Dempsey was in fine form as Seattle overcame Minnesota 2-1 at CenturyLink Field.

Dempsey completed 34 passes in the attacking half, including 22 in the attacking third. Both totals were his most in a game this season.

He tied his season high with seven shots, including five from inside the penalty area.

With an average score of 582, Dempsey is third in the Audi Player Index for the season, behind only Villa and Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco.
