Liverpool vs. Leicester promises goals in midweek Premier League games
We correctly called Manchester United to beat Arsenal in the FA Cup last time out but incurred a small loss for the weekend overall after Napoli failed to win at AC Milan. A full programme of midweek Premier League fixtures should keep punters entertained and we fancy goals when Liverpool host Leicester City.
Running total: -£54.11
Leicester have lost three on the spin, and four of their last five so head to Anfield more in hope than expectation this week. The Reds should be primed for this after enjoying a rare weekend off, and despite Liverpool's fine defensive record at home we fancy a few goals on Wednesday. Mohamed Salah took just 5,374 minutes to reach 50 goals in the Premier League (only Alan Shearer was quicker to that landmark) and the Egyptian can help Liverpool make it 34 points from 12 home games. However you have to go back to Boxing Day 2015 for the last time the Foxes failed to score in this fixture and they can at least grab a consolation goal on Merseyside.
The Tasty Treble
Chelsea (4/6) need a victory over Bournemouth to consolidate their top-four status and, given the fact they've already beaten the Cherries twice this season without conceding a goal, they look a decent punt to win on the south coast. Elsewhere Arsenal (2/7) should encounter few problems when they face Cardiff at the Emirates. The Bluebirds have failed to win any of their last four and could struggle to cope with the pace of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up top. Throw in Tottenham (4/6) to finally get back to winning ways against Watford for a treble paying just over 8/5 with bet365. The brilliant Son Heung-Min should be back for Spurs who have missed his attacking threat in their last few matches.
Selection: £5 on the treble at 2.61/1 with bet365
The Euro Wager
Barcelona are staring down the barrel of a Copa del Rey quarterfinal exit after losing the first leg against Sevilla 2-0. The Blaugrana recorded an eighth successive La Liga victory at the weekend and thoughts immediately turned to Wednesday's clash after beating Girona. Ernesto Valverde will be determined to pull off a comeback, with the Catalan club having won the Copa del Rey for each of the past four years. Lionel Messi should return having been left out of the squad altogether for the trip to the Sanchez Pizjuan, and he can inspire the hosts, who are 6/5 to qualify, to another famous win.
The Wildcard Tip
Crystal Palace were excellent in beating Tottenham in the FA Cup and look live underdogs when they travel to Southampton on Wednesday. The pair have both claimed 22 points from 23 Premier League matches so far and each know a win would put clear daylight between themselves and the bottom three. Preference though is for Palace, led by the irascible Wilfried Zaha, to spring a shock at St Mary's.
The Bookie Basher
Manchester City are red hot favourites to beat Newcastle United at St James' Park but might need to roll their sleeves up and graft for the win on Tyneside. The Magpies are desperate for points at the wrong end of the table and can make life tough for Pep Guardiola's men, who are 11/2 with bet365 to win the match after conceding first.
