Back Arsenal to beat Chelsea and reignite Premier League top four charge
There was midweek heartache for the column as Blackburn's inability to beat Newcastle cost us a 32/1 FA Cup treble after we correctly called Sheffield Wednesday to beat Luton and Southampton's draw with Derby. There's more Premier League action this weekend including Arsenal's big London derby clash with Chelsea.
Running total: -£56.11
Given they are six points behind Chelsea and fourth place, a defeat for Arsenal this weekend would surely be a fatal blow to their prospects of qualifying for next season's Champions League via the Premier League route. There was no real urgency or fluidity to the Gunners' play as they lost to West Ham, and they will need a massive improvement on that performance if they are going to beat the Blues. However they are not without hope at the Emirates, where results this season have been decent. Chelsea have scored the least amount of goals of any side in the top six and may struggle to match Arsenal's clinical finishing. With so much on the line, look for Unai Emery's men to get the win and breathe new life into their quest for a top four finish.
Selection: £5 on Arsenal to win at 19/10 with bet365.
The First-Goal Flutter
Raul Jimenez has hit seven goals this season for Wolves and looks a tempting price at 5/1 to score first when they host Leicester City. The Mexican has looked very sharp in recent weeks but his brilliance seems to have slipped under the radar until now. At club level over the past five seasons he has scored 43 goals in 63 starts and he's the man Leicester, who've lost these last two, will be most worried about in Saturday's early kick-off.
The Tasty Treble
It remains to be seen how Tottenham will cope without Harry Kane, who has been ruled until March with an ankle injury. However even without their World Cup Golden Boot winner, Spurs (7/10) should be too strong for a Fulham side who have lost their last three. Elsewhere, Watford (8/13) can make it three wins in a row by beating Burnley at Vicarage Road. The Hornets ran out easy 3-1 winners when the teams met at Turf Moor back in August and can prove their superiority over the Clarets on home soil. Finally, the draw might be the bet when Newcastle face Cardiff City in a huge game at the foot of the table. Neil Warnock's side will be feisty, physical and direct at St James' Park and with the Magpies struggling in terms of injuries Rafa Benitez might set his side up not to lose. The treble with bet365 is paying just over 8/1 and should go close.
Selection: £2 on the treble at 8.06/1 with bet365.
The Euro Wager
Napoli will be out to close the gap on Juventus when they host Lazio this weekend, in a game that should feature goals. Both teams like to get forward but the omens look good for Napoli fans with Lazio having claimed just one win in their last 10 Serie A meetings against the Partenopei. There have also been over 2.5 goals in four of the last six meetings between the two teams so preference here is to take the 13/5 for Napoli to win with both teams scoring at the San Paolo.
The Wildcard Tip
In the Championship, the big game this weekend is Stoke City's clash against Leeds United. Marcelo Bielsa proved he is football's new philosopher king with a mesmerising, masterclass of a news conference this week where he admitted having every opponent watched this season. The sheer diligence, number crunching and professionalism of the Argentine proves he is one of the most meticulous head coaches out there and his Leeds side can claim another win on the road at the bet365 Stadium.
