Liverpool to beat Tottenham at Wembley? Sergio Aguero to score first vs. Fulham?

Steve Nicol examines the gap in quality between Toby Alderweireld and Man United's defence, and whether United can ever land the Spurs centre-back.

There was further heartbreak during the international break for the column as both England and Spain kept clean sheets against Switzerland and Croatia respectively. The domestic action returns with a bang this weekend though with Tottenham's clash with Liverpool among the highlights.

Running total: -£40.29

The Banker

Liverpool were dismantled 4-1 when they played Tottenham at Wembley last October but the Reds head to north London with real hope of maintaining their 100 percent start to the season. Liverpool have kept three clean sheets so far and the battle between Virgil van Dijk and Harry Kane should be compelling at Wembley. Spurs looked a little fragile in losing 2-1 to Watford before the international break and may struggle against a rampant Liverpool side who have already been trimmed to 11/4 in the title betting after an assured start to the season.

Selection: £5 on Liverpool to win at 13/10 with bet365.

The Tasty Treble

Arsenal are seeking their third straight win when they head to Tyneside to face Newcastle and the Gunners look a decent price at 17/20. Unai Emery looks to be putting his stamp on this Arsenal side and they may be too slick for the Magpies, who languish in 18th place after a poor start. Everton fluffed their lines against Huddersfield Town last time out and, with several key players missing, may struggle against West Ham on Sunday. Richarlison is suspended while Seamus Coleman also misses out and it may pay to back the draw at 13/5 as West Ham look to claim their first point of the season. Finally Wolves (3/4) have made a pretty solid start and look a safe bet to see off Burnley. The Clarets have yet to win a game this season and may struggle to contain the creativity of Ruben Neves at Molineux.

Selection: £2 on the treble at 10.65/1 with bet365.

The First Goal Flutter

Sergio Aguero has labelled his fitness "the best in years" after undergoing a knee operation earlier this year and, having had a chance to rest during the recent international break, looks a good thing to score first against Fulham on Saturday. The Cottagers have shipped nine goals already this term and could be in for a rough ride at the Etihad.

Selection: £2.50 on Aguero to score first at 11/5 with bet365.

The Euro wager

Real Madrid travel to Athletic Bilbao this weekend and may need to be patient against the Basque outfit. Los Blancos have made a perfect start to their La Liga campaign, with Gareth Bale impressing in attack. However Bilbao are a notorious nut to crack on some turf and so there could be some mileage in backing a draw at half-time with Julen Lopetegui's Madrid eventually claiming a victory after that.

Selection: £3 on Draw Half-Time Real Madrid Full-Time at 100/30 with bet365.

The Wildcard Tip

Romelu Lukaku looked sharp for Belgium during the international break and having bagged five goals in his last three matches for club and country, the striker could be worth a punt to score two or more against Watford. It won't be easy for the Red Devils given Watford are just one of three Premier League teams to have a 100 percent record after four games but Lukaku has been really sharp in recent weeks and looks big at 13/2 to score two or more at Vicarage Road.

Selection: £2 on Lukaku to score 2+ goals at 13/2 with bet365.
