Celtic and Burnley to win in Europe? Goals in Chelsea vs. Lyon?
A small profit for the column last time out thanks in no small part to Manchester City's Community Shield victory over Chelsea. The Premier League kicks off this week, but before that British clubs are involved in some crucial European action.
Running total: +£13.71
Celtic face AEK Athens in Glasgow on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie. It's a massive game for the Hoops, who know missing out on the Champions League group stages would be a massive blow financially. The good news is that AEK's Argentine striker Ezequiel Ponce is a doubt, while Dmitry Tsigrinski and Yorgos Yanutsos are also both definitely out for the visitors. Celtic have been in good form so far this season, and look a decent bet at 4/5 to win at Celtic Park. Boss Brendan Rodgers will be full of confidence too, having won all eight Champions League qualifiers since taking charge in 2016. Celtic looked lively in beating Livingston 3-1 at the weekend, and having brushed past Alashkert and Rosenborg already in Europe this season, look good to secure a first leg advantage against the Greek champions.

The Tasty Treble
Burnley lost 2-0 to Espanyol at the weekend and head to Turkey this week in the Europa League as they meet Istanbul Basaksehir. The Turkish outfit, who are 4/5 for victory, have Gael Clichy and Emmanuel Adebayor in a strong squad and could be too good for the Clarets on home soil. Elsewhere Feyenoord, fresh from their Dutch Super Cup victory over PSV Eindhoven, should be too strong for AS Trencin. Feyenoord have been impressive in preseason and look a bet at 4/5 to win in Slovakia. Adding Rosenborg at 4/5 to win at Cork City gives a treble paying almost 5/1.

First Goal Flutter
Tom Rogic was on target as Celtic beat Livingston at the weekend and the Aussie playmaker looks interesting at 6/1 to score first against AEK Athens. The Socceroos star kicked off Celtic's quest for an eighth straight Scottish Premiership title by scoring first goal in a convincing 3-1 home win, and could be the man to follow again here.
The Wildcard Tip
Chelsea wrap up their preseason on Tuesday night with an ICC clash at home to Lyon. The Blues can have few complaints about their 2-0 weekend defeat to Manchester City at Wembley and have been chalked up at 6/4 to beat Lyon. There should be goals at Stamford Bridge where it could pay to take the 11/4 for both teams to score in the first half.
The Bookie Basher
Roma, fresh from beating Barcelona 4-2 at the weekend, look live underdogs as they face Real Madrid at the MetLife Stadium. Los Blancos beat Juventus 3-1 last time out but before that lost to a very ordinary Manchester United side, so a small interest on the Italians could be the way to go in a competition that has thrown up plenty of surprises this summer.
